Chapter 39
Let's Flip
===========
What the f*ck is his profile doing in here?!
"Kailan 'to nagpasa?" I asked my secretary, showing her Zayn's profile.
"Two days ago po."
"Remove him," I said then gave her the folder and continued scanning the other profiles.
"Miss, I can't."
I looked at her with what she said.
"And why the f*ck can't you obey my order?" I raised an eyebrow. "The last time I checked, I'm still the owner of this freaking restaurant."
"I'm quite aware of that, miss. It's just that, kumpleto na po kasi ang listahan. Meron na po tayong ten participants."
"So? Is it obvious that we'll be missing one participant?"
"Yes, miss. Atsaka ieere po ang competition. It will surely be an issue kung kulang po ng isa."
I sighed. "Then find a replacement."
"Bukas na po ang competiton. Kulang na po sa oras."
"Then take one profile on the rejected list."
"Naitapon na po ang rejected list, miss."
I stood up and hit my table. "F*ck! Then do something! I don't want him to compete!"
"And why is that, Scarlet?" I heard a familiar male voice said. I glanced at the door and saw Lucas standing by the door frame. "Could you give us some privacy?" He asked the secretary. She looked at me, probably waiting for my permission. I sighed first before I agreed.
"You may go," I said to my secretary. She was about to get the profiles on my desk when I stopped her. "Leave it. I'll study each profile again."
She nodded then left my office. I sat down while Lucas, on the other hand, approached me. He immediately took the separated folder on my desk and took a peek.
"So that's why you want this one out. Because he is Zayn."
"So what?"
"Yeah, Scarlet. So what if it's Zayn? Something wrong?"
I rolled my eyes and diverted my attention to my work instead.
"Ignore him, Scarlet," I said to myself.
Moments later, I saw his shadow inches from me so I looked at him. I met his face few inches from me. I was shocked. I felt my cheeks burn up. I can feel his breath.
"Are you still affected?" He asked me. He's staring at me. And for the first time, I hated his eyes, which I adore so much the first time I saw it.
I looked away.
"What? Affected? Yeah, right," I said sarcastically. I can still feel that he is still looking at me and so I stood up and went to the window.
"You're still affected, aren't you?"
"I said, I'm not."
"You want to make a bet?"
I faced him.
"A bet?"
"Yeah." He took something on his pocket and showed me a coin. "You see, I believe that God answers our question in different but special ways."
"So?"
"I'll ask him instead and let him answer through this coin."
"Are you making fun of me?" I asked irritated.
