complications - Maria Hill

chapter 32

the day had finally come it was bass' first birthday. both me and maria had woken up before him and all his presents wrapped ad put downstairs where the others were.

"Hey, you two" sam said.

"hey, sam," I said carrying the presents.

"guessing bass is still asleep," he said and I nodded.

"completely passed out hopefully will be for a bit longer," I said.

I put the presents and then started to make some porridge for everyone.

"sam do me a favour and go round everyone and ask them if they want some porridge please," I asked and he nodded walking out.

as the porridge was cooking I made myself a coffee. 

"it's half 8 so he will be awake soon," Maria said.

"you think," I asked.

"yeh put we will have to wake him up before 9:30 or he won't go down for his nap at lunch," she said.

I nodded and put my hand on her growing belly. we hadn't told anyone about the pregnancy yet since we wanted to wait for sebs birthday to get out the way and would probably tell them all once sebs in bed.

"how's peanut," I asked kissing her neck.

"good slept through the whole night and morning sickness has finally passed so all good for now," she said.

I plated up the porridge for everyone and I put a small bit in for bass since Maria had gone to wake him up. I set it on his high chair when maria came into the kitchen with him.

"hey birthday boy," Tony said patting his head and he tucked himself into Maria's shoulder.

"oh oh you have grumpy pants," he said leaving with his porridge.

I looked towards seb to see tear stains on his cheek. "what's up with him" I asked.

"wasn't a massive fan on mummy waking him up," she said and passed him to me.

"oh you tired bud," I said trying to put him in his high chair but he started to cry.

"oy oy oy what all this about," I asked giving him his food but he screamed louder and did grabby hands.

I picked him up and he cuddled into my arms his crying slowed down but was still there. I looked over to Maria and she just shrugged.

"you sure he slept," Buck asked.

"ill check the monitor you feed him," Maria said.

I grabbed him a bowl and sat with steve and Wanda and tried to feed him and he took the food happily. as he ate he chirped up a little but still looked like he hadn't slept.

maria came in a sat next to me "check the monitor slept the whole night didn't wake up once" she said and she put his hand on his forehead.

"he doesn't feel warm," she said and she just shrugged.

"who knows we will put him down for an early nap," I said.

"we're leaving at 11 to get there by half 12 we get a nap in then and if he's still tired he can sleep on the way home," I said.

"might have to," she said and looked at the time.

"I'm gonna go get ready and get his clothes out ready," she said and kissed both our checks and left.

I continued to talk to the group whilst we ate and then we went our separate ways and headed for our room to get him ready. I heard the shower going so I went into his room and saw that there was an outfit ready for him so I sat on the floor with him and changed out of his pj's and put him in some new clothes.
