*4 year years later*

today was Maria's 4th anniversary. Alfie had just turned four and Bass was almost 6. ever since Maria died we decided that every opportunity we could get we would have all the avengers together on Christmas, Thanksgiving, Birthdays, and Easter any chance we could and we would make a toast to Maria every single time.

these past couple of years we all made sure both the boys knew about their mum even though they might not remember with pictures and videos and we would tell them stories. After Maria died we moved out and got our own house and I retired from Shield but I would still come in then and now for the Avengers and help them but other than that I was at home with the kids.

we were eating breakfast downstairs with Natasha when Alfie asked me "we gonna see mummy today"

"Yeah bud, we will get ready and then we are gonna drive there," I said.

"is auntie nat coming," Bass asked?

"yep, she is," I said and Nat nodded.

once the boys finished I took their plates and I told them to go get changed.

"you're an amazing dad you know that right" Nat told me, I turned to her and smiled.

"I do try," I said.

"Maria would be so proud of you," she said.

"you think"  asked.

"I now look at the kids you got they have manners there polite their good kids," she said and speaking of the devil Alfie came down running into the kitchen in just his boxers and holding his clothes.

"what's the matter bud," I asked.

"help please," he said and I nodded I showed him how to put his trousers on and hushed himself then did the same with his shirt.

"there you go bud you did it all by yourself," I said and gave him a high five. and he ran back up the stairs.

"see good parent right there," she said pointing to me.

"Thanks, nat," I said.

once everyone was ready we drove down to the cemetery where everyone already was and all of us sat in front of her . for the next hour or so we sat and talked like we always do until everyone slowly left. leaving me the boys and Nat together.

"Hey, you want me to take the boy's game and let you have a moment," she asked.

"yeh please you're a lifesaver," I said and all three of them walked out of the cemetery leaving me alone. I watched them turn the corner out of my sight and I side looking back and Maria's grave.

"hey, babe I mean you like me a lot I wish you were here I mean I don't have a clue how I have survived without you by my side I need you so bad right now I need you by my side I need you sleeping next to me holding my hand so do the kids god Alfie is gonna be starting school soon he looks so much like you sometimes it hurts so bad and he is also a ladies man constantly flirting with everyone and everything well he tries but for a four-year-old, he has game and Bass god he is so smart like special smart at one point they wanted to move in up a grade god and he is so sporty he's doing sports almost every day I wouldn't be able to juggle it all without Nat god she is a massive help always there no matter what she is just there helping not just with the kids but with me she is amazing anyway I'm renevating the house a bit since the kids will be in school soon," I said and I carrying on about what happened since the last time I was here.

I sat there for about 2 hours until I decided to go home. since Natasha drove the car home I walked but it wasn't a long walk only bout 20 minutes.

once I got home it was dark I walked into the house and walked into the living room to see Nat and the boys were watching scooby doo. I left them there and I went to go get changed. when I walked back down the stair I saw that the boys were fast asleep.

"hey," I said quietly sitting.

"hey," she said.

"how were the kiddos," I said.

"perfect as always," she said.

"nice anyway I'm gonna get them to bed," I said slowly picking up both the boys and taking them to bed. I slowly walked up the stairs leaving Nat to watch the tv and give her a break from the kids.

after I put them to bed I walked back downstairs to see nat fast asleep I smiled a little bit placed a blanket over her and locked the house up and turned off all the lights. I walked over and kissed her on the cheek and then walked up the stairs to go to sleep.
