chapter 37

it had been a week and it was time for Maria to go undercover. we had packed her bags and they were in the back of her car and we were all now eating lunch before she had to go. I made Bass a toastie and I had cut it into squares and handed it to him on a plate.

"thank you," he said. I kissed his head and gave Maria her food and sat down with mine. we all ate and Bass went to go play and  Maria breastfed Alfie and got him to sleep.

whilst Bass was playing outside with the team and Alfie was in his swing as Wanda watched him both e and Maria walked into the garage. we stopped in front of her car.

"so this is it," I said.

"yeah it is you gonna be okay without me," she said.

"who knows we'll see," I said.

"I think you will be there's enough breast milk to last you months on end and if you run out ill still pump and send it for you," she said.

"Yeah ok," I said and brought her into my arms.

"you gonna miss me," she said and I nodded into her neck.

we stood there for about 20 minutes until I pulled back and kissed her lips.

"I don't want you to go," I said.

"I don't want to go either but I have to," she said.

"I should kill nick," I said deadly serious.

"no no you not," she said also serious.

"you'll never know when your gone e could just naturally die and you would never know," I said with a smile.

"no no no you're not going to you know why because you gonna be too busy with the kiddos," she said kissing my lips.

"well you'll just have to come home safe and sound to find out won't you," I said.

"ill just have to then," she said and looked at her watch.

"I gotta set off," she said making my smile leave my face.

"Alright," I said.

"hey your gonna be fine," she said and I nodded.

"and your gonna be as safe as you possible can ok," I said.

"I promise to be as safe as I possibly can," she said kissing my lips and was about to get into the car until little feet were tapping on the floor.

"mummy wait" Bass screamed and ran as fast as his little legs took him. he jumped into Maria's arms.

"Hey, baby boy," she said kissing all over his face.

"I love you," he said to her kissing her.

"I miss you more," she said.

"I will be back soon ok but whilst I'm away you gotta be the best boy in the world for your daddy ok and the best big brother for Alfie ok be good and keep that little smile," she said and he nodded.

"ok mummy," he said.

"ok Seb I love you," she said letting him on the floor.

"love you too," he said and walked towards me and I picked him up and watched as Maria got into the car and drove off.

"come on bud let's go inside," I said walking inside.

Ii tired daddy" he said.

"you wanna have a nap," I asked and he nodded.

"you wanna nap in mummy and daddy's bed," I asked and he nodded again.

"alright you go in there ill grab Alfie," I said and he nodded slowly walking into our room. I went to go grab a still sleeping Alfie and went into our room and walked down the half to Alfies Nursery and put him in his cot and closed the blinds and turned on the baby monitor then walked out.
