Private First Class Pavel stands on wall 1A keeping watch. A cigarette alight in his mouth as he scans the horizon, then he spots something, a single GAZ truck speeding along the dirt road towards his gate. Pavel's eyes widen as he runs for the watchtower clanging the bell attached to it as the man up top leans his head over.

"You see that?"

"Nahui! Of course, I see it with the dust it's throwing, it's one of ours!"

"How do you know?"

"It's plastered in our marks and a flag on the hood, and who else would shoot at it? Dumbass."

"Then open the gate!"

A few more Russian curses that any mother would have disapproved later, the large gate begins to rumble and whir as the gears and pistons pull it apart halfway down, within the next minute the dust and mud-covered truck enter the gateway only to stall and stop right between the doors. Pavel steps and raps on the door of the truck and calls into it unable to see through the mud-plastered windows.

"Hey, buddy! Are you in there? Got a lot of explaining."

Pavel wrenches the door open and comes face to face with a cabin stuffed full of explosives of all manners, save for just enough room for a remotely controlled steering system. Before he can even turn, the truck blows, wiping out the gathered group and destroying the gate mangling, and bringing down the doors, frame, and watchtower. Seconds later a barrage of incoming explosives arrives decimating the walls as a lucky strike on the ammo dump blows the just stirring men of barrack A-Block to nothing.

C:" All teams move in, AT rockets set targets to the defense turret gun barrels before targeting their armored vehicles and gun emplacements, mortars look for concentrations of men, save the command office."

Sop: "Commander can we go yet?! The HOCs are having all the fun!"

C: "Fine, AR team, take one link and head in, prioritize the anti-tank personnel and destroy their armory. All other echelons support the allied forces and advance, HB, M2, switch to smoke rounds and lay us a screen in."

Each echelon rises from their camouflaged foxholes and sets off in a jogging run as smoke rounds start to rain down in systematic order producing a singular trail of obscuring grey into the destroyed gates, Krieger watches from his position when a hand claps his shoulder and he turns.

"You sent your robots in too late, they should have gone in when we blew the gate."

K: "And risk losing one of our most valuable assets in this engagement? We went over the details and you agreed to this plan."

"I didn't agree to lose my men."

K: "Get used to it."

Barzo grumbles under his breath before climbing into the hummer as Krieger piles into the driver seat and takes them down into the smoking base, the turret gunner firing to provide cover as they park in next to the bombed-out gates and step out the Commander immediately leveling his rifle and putting down Cyclops as Barzo runs into the fray and M4 joins him.

K: "Status report?"

"All echelons suffer no damage save for scraps from their rounds, the enemy is putting up heavy fighting and is resisting attempts to force them back."

K: "Call in our HOCs and tell them to pull out to our evac zone in 4 minutes, pull out our echelons by numbered order highest to lowest to the zone in 5-minute intervals as well. M4 keep your team with me."

"Understood. Transmitting message now, should we pull back the wounded?"

K: "Only take high-ranking KCCO officers, Barzo's men can take care of their own."

"I'll let the teams know."

M4 sets off into the chaos as Krieger steps in meeting up with echelons 2, 3, and 5. Helping them to eliminate the confused and muddled Cyclops and Manticores before stepping away and making a run into the main command post where the formerly orderly base is in tatters as documents are burned and computers wiped by the few that haven't fled, the burning paper and processors clear as he puts down two brave guards that round the corner. Krieger turns into the corridor and the door he was aiming for opens as a voice drifts out and he steps in.

"I suppose we couldn't have met under a better circumstance could we Commander Krieger?"

K:" No I suppose not now, though you could always join us, we need people like you."

"I'll consider it."

With this statement, the Commander reaches into his pocket and tosses a small device with a singular red button on it, the colonel catches it and pockets it himself giving a nod of appreciation before he speaks again.

"Is he here?"

K:" He's down there in the fray."

"Will you deliver on your promise?"

K: " I've made no promises, I deliver him to you because of my own past."

"Bring him then I beg."

K:" For him you don't need to beg, just lure."

Without another word, Krieger sets the coms link on and speaks into it.

K: "Barzo. You read me?"

"What do you want?"

K: "There are documents at the command posts office I want you to see."

"I'm on my way I'll read them, wait."

Krieger dims the lights and the Colonel takes a stand in the corner of the room adjacent to the doorway as a minute passes and pounding boot steps echo down the hallway and Barzo bursts in kicking the door open as he does, panting and looking around wild-eyed before Krieger clubs him in the head with his gun boot and the man collapses onto the floor. The colonel appears out of the shadow his service weapon drawn as the lights click back on.

"Who the hell are you?! Krieger get me out of this and shoot him for Christ's sake!"

K: "You don't remember or know him probably but he remembers you."

"Shut up and help me goddamnit!"

C:" How many more villages have you razed and destroyed now? Fifty? Hundred?"

"I-I don't know what you're talking about! I-It would have violated the Geneva conventions!"

C: "Shut up, you harp about that and then go massacring civilians."

"HELP ME KRIEGER WE'RE ON THE SAME SIDE I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING."

K: "Your sins have caught up with you. Enjoy your stay in hell Barzo."

"PLEASE I'LL DO ANYTHING."

C: "You and I have a lot of catching up to do."

With that Krieger walks out of the office ignoring Barzo's whining blubbering pleas as he steps past the corpses and out the base, he reunites with the AR team as they clamber back into the hummer outside the gates. As they reverse and drive off, the PA system of the base remarkably intact begins to broadcast the voice of the colonel: "Attention all rebel forces. Your commanding officer is now in our possession. Lay down your arms and you will be treated fairly under P.O.W conditions.

15: "Will they listen to that Commander?"

"Will Spas ever keep a promise on lowering the amount of food she eats?"

15:" Never."

As if to prove 15's response, the wrecked base erupts again in gunfire and yells. The Commander and his team speed to their dust-off point where they join the already waiting echelons and HOCs. The transports lift up and point their noses to Sector 9.

I believe this is my longest singular story yet. Sorry for the large delay. (Not as sorry as I would be if I had called 45 flat though). Expect a prologue and a reappearance of the Colonel later on. expect grammar and spelling issues, this is over 1100 words long alright?
