A wolf king

The Seven Kingdoms are at war, with the King in the North, Robb Stark, fighting to win independence for his people and those of the Riverlands.
He is in his tent, having just sent Alton Lannister with terms, that if met would mean peace between houses Stark and Lannister, when Theon Greyjoy aproaches him "The Lannisters are going to reject your terms, you know?"
The king in the North replies "Of course they are".
"We can fight them in the fields as long as you like, but we won't beat them until you take King's Landing. And we can't take King's Landing without ships. My father has ships and men who know how to sail them." Argued the Greyjoy.
Catelyn counsels against putting trust in Balon because of his history of rebellion. "You don't want Balon Greyjoy for an ally." She states, "I need his ships" counters her son.
She then asks Robb to consider exchanging Jaime for his sisters, but he declones saying his men would kill him if he traded the kingslayer for two girls.
At his words the lady Stark tells him "You want to leave Sansa in the Queen's hands? And Arya, I haven't heard a word about Arya. What are we fighting for if not for them?"

Robb, frustated tries to make his mother see that it is complicated.
She reveals that she will return to her younger sons at Winterfell but Robb tasks her with seeking an alliance with Renly and sends Ser Rodrick Cassell instead to Winterfell.

Days later the northen forces have completed their assault on a Lannister encampment which was only manned by Rennick and another Lannister guardsman, with his direwolf Grey Wind causing a considerable amount of damage. The Battle of Oxcross is a smashing victory, following through on Robb's promise to give Cersei "another Whispering Wood." The next day Robb surveys the battlefield as Silent Sisters tend to both Stark and Lannister wounded, while his bannerman, Lord Roose Bolton of the Dreadfort, argues that they should kill all of the Lannister soldiers they took prisoner p"Five Lannisters dead for every one of ours. They're dead. Take everything they've got. We've nowhere to keep all these prisoners. Barely enough food to feed our own." The king disagrees, saying they will fight honorably and follow the laws of war.
The Bolton man proceeds by saying "Of course, Your Grace. The officers will be useful. Some of them may be privy to Tywin Lannister's plans.", but Robb refuses, not wanting to give the Lannisters an excuse to torture his sisters, Sansa and Arya.
The Stark king sees a woman battlefield healer treating a wounded Lannister soldier who protests when she tells him she has to amputate his leg in order to save his life. Robb helps hold him down as she saws off the leg. "What's your name?", asks the young wolf.

All she says is her first name "Talisa." But upon being questioned of her last name she replies "You want to know what side my family fights on?", "You know my family name. You have me at a disadvantage."

Talisa ignores his question, only criticizes Robb for the need for this war. He however reveals he doesn't want the Iron Throne "I have no desire to sit on the Iron Throne, i just want revenge on Joffrey for my father's death." "And after you get your revenge? Who sits on the throne?" She asks but is shocked to learn he doesn't care which king takes the throne after they defeat Joffrey. She now sees he just wants them to leave the north alone afterward.

Later at Winterfell, Maester Luwin sends off a messenger raven.
A band of raiders from House Greyjoy, led by Theon Greyjoy, take over the undefended castle. Theon had lured the defenders away with a feint at Torrhen's Square and then infiltrated the castle using grappling claws. "Theon what are you doing here?" Asked a sleepy confused Bran Stark "I've taken over Winterfell, come you and I are going down and tell them how you've yielded Winterfell to me.", "I'll never yield"after listening Bran's statement Theon tells him that he must surrender the castle to him to save his people.

Bran submits in front of his assembled people. Ser Rodrik Cassel is captured by Theon's men as he is returning from Torrhen's Square. He spits in Theon's face, and Dagmer insists that Theon must kill him, or lose face in front of his ironborn raiders. Theon botches the beheading of Ser Rodrik, requiring several hacks and a kick, horrifying the people of Winterfell.
Later at night Osha the wildling womam frees Bran, Rickon Stark, Hodor, and thsir direwolves.
She then smuggles them out of the castle and kills one of Theon's guards in the process.

Meanwhile in the Westerlands Robb Stark finds himself falling in love with lady Talisa the two walk through the camp before being interrupted by the arrival of lady Stark who realizes her son's feelings for the healer.

Lord Roose Bolton interrupts the king in the North with the terrible news sent by Luwin's last messenger raven.

Inside the council's chamber Robb is Furious at Theon's betrayal "This cannot be true." "We've had ravens from White Harbor, Barrowton and the Dreadfort. I'm afraid it is true." Assures lord Bolton.
Robb intends to march his army back to the North to repel the invasion but Roose advises that the few hundred soldiers left scattered in the North can be rallied by his bastard son, Ramsay Snow who is in the North at the Dreadfort. "They could overcome the small Ironborn invasion force." Roose says before warning the young king that retreating the entire Northern army group would lose everything they have gained. Robb agrees, but insists that Bolton's men take Theon alive so Robb can look him in the eyes and ask "Why?" before personally executing him.

At Winterfell Theon Greyjoy wakens to find that Osha, who had sex with him the night before, is gone and she has taken Hodor, Bran and Rickon Stark nd the direwolves. Theon leads the ironborn on horseback to hunt down the boys with hounds to track them.
"Enjoying your first hunt?" Theon taunts the Maester who replies"So far hunting is much like riding my lord", "Yes well with hunting there is blood im the end" and with that the comversation between the ends.

The search leads them to a shepherd's farm, but the farmer says that he hasn't seen anyone. Dagmer finds some walnut shells, so they know that Bran and Rickon were there, but the hounds can't get the scent. Theon tells them the hunt is over and to return the old Maester Luwin to Winterfell: he knows where they are, and his mercy has been exhausted.

Theon returns to Winterfell. He announces that he is going to show them what happens to those who are not loyal to him: he hoists two bodies of small children, burned black and beyond recognition, to either side of the main gate. Seeing them, Maester Luwin cries out in grief and anguish, believing Bran and Rickon have been killed.

Robb is furious when he learns that his mother has freed his most important captive. He tells her that she has betrayed him and orders her kept under guard. Catelyn tries to argue claiming her actions as a mother's desperation. Robb plans to relieve Winterfell by turning Theon's men against him with an offer of mercy, issuing his orders to the bastard of the Dreadfort through Roose Bolton. seeks solace in the arms of Talisa, ignoring his betrothal to House Frey.
Later the king in the North breaks his oath to house Frey by marrying Talisa.

In knigs landing Varys finds Tyrion Lannister the two begin speaking "My birds sing songs of Myr and Qarth. Rhaenya Targaryen and her aunt Daenerys are alive." The spider reveals, "Two girls at the edge of the world are the least of our problems." Replied the Lannister dwarf. "Daenerys She has three dragons they say, as for her niece, the only living child of Rhaegar Targaryen, they say she has 4 and an army of at least fourteen thousand at her disposal.
"One game at the time" was all Tyrion could say.
