Davos is staring at Jon Snow. The younger man slowly sits up on the table, breathing heavily. He turns his head to look at Davos. Ghost is standing in front of his master also staring at him. Jon looks down at his body and sees his stab wounds. He begins gasping and shaking. The older man takes off his cloak and rushes over to his king's brother, who attempts to stand but falters. Davos catches Jon Snow and wraps him in his cloak.
"Easy, easy. Easy." Davos says as he ushers the young man back into a sitting position. Melisandre enters and stares at Jon Snow.
"What do you remember?" The onion knight asks him. But Jon seems confused. "They stabbed me. Olly...he put a knife in my heart. I shouldn’t be here." The words make Davos tell Jon that it was Melisandre who had brought him back."

The red woman approaches Jon and kneels in front of him. "Afterwards, after they stabbed you, after you died, where did you go? What did you see?"
"Nothing. There was nothing at all." He tells her. But Melisandre continues. "The Lord let you come back for a reason. Stannis was not the prince who was promised, but someone has to be." Davos asks Melisandre to leave them alone so Jon can adjust to his revival.
Davos grabs a stool and notes "You were dead. And now you’re not. That’s completely fucking mad, seems to me. I can only imagine how it seems to you."
Jon laments that he tried to do what he thought was right, but got murdered for it and asks why he returned from the dead. Davos answers that they may never know, but it doesn't matter in the end, and the important thing is to fight and go on living for as long as possible. Jon thought he knew how to, but isn't sure anymore: he failed. "Good," says Davos, "and now go fail again."
Some time later, Jon and his men oversee the public hanging of the traitors responsible for the Mutiny at Castle Black: Bowen Marsh, Othell Yarwyck, Alliser Thorne and Olly.
Jon asks if any of the men have last words to say. Bowen says "you shouldn't be alive, it's not right." Jon coldly replies, "Neither was killing me."
Yarwyck pleads Jon to write his mother in White Harbor that he died honorably fighting the Wildlings. Alliser says he had a choice, to betray his Commander or the Night's Watch. He then says that Jon bringing the Wildlings was a dangerous problem and had to be stopped, and warns him that Jon will be fighting their battles forever. Jon gives his respect to him, in that Alliser would follow his convictions even if he knew this would be the result beforehand because he believed he was doing the right thing.
Jon finally looks at Olly. The boy stares back at him, unwavering. The lord commander turns his back and unsheathes Longclaw. He breathes heavily and cuts the rope. The platform is pulled out from under the traitors’ feet. They are hung. They choke and die. Jon looks at Olly again, his face is blue and swollen. The bastard of Winterfell sheathes his sword, then walks up to Dolorous Edd who tells him, "We should burn the bodies."
