FIRE AND ICE - ROBB STARK X TARGARYEN OC

Goodbyes

To the North, south of the wall. Bran Stark, Rickon Stark, Hodor, Jojen Reed, Meera Reed and Osha are walking past a windmill.

"Where are we?" Osha asks Bran.

"The Gift, I think. Brandon The Builder gave all this land south of the Wall to the Night's Watch for their sustenance and support. Maester Luwin taught me that." The older stark boy explains.

"Doesn't seem to be supporting anyone at the moment." Jojen comments, as his sister tells them It's good land and there's no war up here. But questions why would someone leave.

"Wildlings." Bran tells them while looking at Osha who stares back at him

"Sorry. But they come over the Wall and raid, steal, carry off women." He defends his answer simpathetically.

"Old Nan said they turn your skull into a cup and make you drink your own blood from it." Rickon tells Osha who stares at the boy who looks back at her.

"That's what Old Nan said." He also defends.

"There's a storm coming." Jojen informs the group.

"I don't see any." Bran looks at the sky skeptically. And just then Thunder rumbling, everyone looks up at the sky and at the windmill.

"It's as good a place to shelter as any." Meera says as the group begins walking back towards the windmill. Osha puts her hand on Rickon's head saying,

"We can drink some blood while we wait. I don't need much."

Once the group is inside of the windmill. The storm has already begun.

How are we going to get past the Wall? My uncle said it's 700 feet high.

Making Osha look at Bran and he looks at her

"How did you get past it?" He asks her

"Got in a boat and rowed past the Bay of Seals."

"It would take us two months to get to the Bay of Seals." He complains.

"Some climb straight up the ice." She tells him

Bran looks at Hodor before saying "Even Hodor's not strong enough to climb the Wall with me on his back."

Hodor is now visibly scared of the thunder, while Jojen explains "Nineteen castles guard the Wall. Only three are still manned."

"Hodor!" Says the giant man still shaken from the thunder.

"One of those abandoned fortresses will give us a way through." Jojen continues.

"My uncle said the gates were sealed with ice and stone when the castles were deserted." Bran adds, making Meera look at him before saying.

"Well, we'll have to open them up again."

Meera gazes outside and sees the old man on horseback.
"There's a rider out there." The Reed girl says.

scared by the thunder, Hodor begins yelling, which threatens to give away their location to the wildlings.

Bran uses his warg abilities to enter Hodor's mind and cause him to pass out, after failing to quiet him down.

"What did you do?" Meera asks Bran in amazed.

"Nothing. I don't know." He answers her.

The sound of a horse is heard from outside. Osha gets near the windmill opening

Rickon after listening to a strange noise asks the wildling girl what it is.

"That's a horse dying." Osha tells him.

Outside, Tormund moves to kill the old man, but Orell tells him to have Jon do it instead to prove his loyalty.

Jon is ultimately unable to kill the innocent man, and instead Ygritte kills the man with an arrow. Realizing that Jon is still loyal to the Night's Watch, Tormund orders his men to kill him and restrains Ygritte to stop her trying to help Jon, and soon after Jon battles with Orell.

At the urging of Jojen, Bran enters the mind of Summer, his direwolf, to aid Jon. Summer and Shaggydog kill two wildlings threatening Jon as he battles to the death with Orell and finally kills him.

With the last of his strength Orell wargs into the mind of his pet eagle, which swoops down and attacks Jon, clawing him badly about the face before he beats the bird off. Jon then jumps to mount a nearby horse and escapes, leaving Ygritte and heading back to the Wall.

Inside of the windmill. It's nighttime. Osha lights a candle

"Is that safe?" Meera questions her.

Bran looks at Jojen telling him he was right as he could get inside Summer's mind.

"Of course you can. North of the Wall there are wildlings who can control all sorts of animals. But you did a lot more than that. You got inside Hodor's mind." Jojen tells the Stark boy.

"They can't do that north of the Wall?" Bran questions prompting Jojen to tell him that nobody anywhere can do what he did.

Bran looks at his brother "When I was looking through Summer's eyes, I saw Jon"

"Where?"

"He was with the wildlings. They tried to kill him but he got away."

"He'll be heading back to Castle Black then. That's where we should go." Osha decides, only for Bran to tell her that for all they know Castle Black's already under attack, due to the number of wildling already south the wall.

"Everything Jojen told me is true. You saw what I did to Hodor. I have to find the three-eyed raven." Bran tells Osha

"Listen to me, little lord." Osha starts telling him but Bran is quick to interrupt her.

"Don't worry, I'm not asking you to come with me. It won't be safe for Rickon."

"Me? I'm coming with you." Rickon starts to protest.

"No. You and Osha and Shaggydog head for the White Harbor The Manderlys are our bannermen they will protect you.

"I'm coming with you. I'm your brother. I have to protect you." The youngest Stark insists.

"Robb's at war and I'm going beyond the Wall. If something happens to us, you're the heir to Winterfell."

Bran then looks at Osha "you know how to get to White Harbor?"

"You Southerners build your big castles and you never move. You're easy to find." She tells him with a sad smile.

"We're not Southerners. And I don't want to leave you." Rickon says to Osha and then to his brothern

"Shhh. Come here, little soldier. You and me, we're gonna have some adventures." Osha tries to cheer Rickon.

"You don't have to do any of this." Bran tells her

"Your family took me in and was good to me when they had no cause to be"

Osha strokes Rickon's hair and kisses him on the head. She then gets up and helps Rickon up as well. They say their goodbyes and leave in the darkness of the night.
