It was 9am when Carlos knocked on the girls door, it was peculiar for the normally dull teenager to me so eager

He clutched a bouquet of roses behind his back as he left his room

Making sure that everyone had left the Madrigal residence, either to catch up on chores or to buy some things from the market

Not many of the mari gals were home on Sundays, that's what he had gathered from his observations of the family

He'd managed to pick up on little quirks or habits that they each had, assessing them down to their last detail

When he had found out, he'd write them down in a leather notebook that he kept stored under his pop-up mattress bed

Every time he noticed something new about a person, he'd store it inside of his head all day, writing it brown in the book at the end of the day

He'd annotate what he thought each of the habits meant, wether they were good or bad, happy or sad, caring or harmful

For example, one day he caught seniora pepa, his pretend mother, picking at her nails nervously

This seemed normal from afar, but the more he looked and accessed Carlos could tell that this was an escape from her

She tended to do it under a table, behind her back, anywhere so that someone couldn't see

She could commonly be seen doing it when her mother was around, the head of the house , Pepa was meant to be seen as the graceful beauty, the yellow of the Madrigal triplets

If she didn't live up to the standards of her mother she would be a disappointment, so she picked at her skin and tugged at her nails with her teeth As a relief

On the other side, her sister Julieta, cooked for people in the village to care for them

This sounded normal for her, that was her role in the family, the healer, the fixer

She lived up to her mothers role perfectly, holding the family together her daughters following

But the unusual thing about her habit, was that it was excessive.

The first night that Carols had stayed at the Madrigals, Alma introduced him as 'the lost boy' she had found on the border of the village

When Alma escorted Carlos the his room, he spotted someone cooking in the kitchen muttering to themselves as they wiped the sleep from their eyes

After that night he had studied Tia Julieta closer, finding out that she would get up at 2 am just to start her cooking

She would do the same routine everyday, running on her 4 hours of sleep

Because that's the problems with harmful habits, they May start out as nothing at first, just a limitless quirk that one had, but it's a circle, round and round the habits go only growing worse, and when you finally realise how bad they are, it's too late

And your too far gone.

'What are you doing?' A voice came from behind Carlos

He jumped as the bouquet of roses sprung out of his hands, he held his hand over his heart as he breathed heavily

He looked up slowly to see who had startled him, and who had also been up so early

It was y/n's fried Andryez, someone who he hadn't seen up close before

Andryez kept his distance from everyone, only really hanging around y/n and Mirabel

Carlos didn't know anything much about Him, so deep inside he felt threatened, there was nothing to judge him fro or use against him

He was a mystery

'I could ask you the same thing' Carlos spat back, looking up slightly to Andryez

He looked to Carlos with a confused look,  before bending over to pick up the flowers he had dropped on the floor

'I get ready early, my chores usually last all day.' He spoke bluntly, almost annoyed

Carlos couldn't find the words to speak as the talker boy began to walk away from him

'Aren't you gonna ask what I'm doing?!' Carlos spoke back, stumbling on his words slightly

'No...' the boy turned around again as he began to walk, leaving Carlos even more confused

'Besides...I know your going to loose' Andryez spoke as he walked away, shrugging his shoulders

Carlos' head whipped around as his mouth was left shoe, shocked at what Andryez had just said

'Im sorry?!' Carlos spoke, almost offended at the other boys words

'This bet, your going to loose it, I know y/n your little act will work for a while I'll give you that, but...' Andryez came closer to Carlos as his voice softened

'The y/n I know values honesty, and you.' He spoke pointing to the boy's chest causing him to flinch slightly

'Are nothing but...' he whispered as he walked away, leaving Carlos shocked on y/n's doorstep

He looked around to see if anyone had witnessed what he had, but no one was ther e

Before he could do anything about it thoigh, the girls door opened leaving her with a bright smile

Soon, the observer would become the observed

This chapter isn't really a  necessary chapter and I'm still leaving you all on a cliffhanger

But I often get comments about Andryez so I thought I'd introduce him a bit further

Oh and prepare yourself for the next chapter, because it's not gonna be pretty
