It was late when Kai's phone vibrated from his nightstand. His mind was delirious, everything was obscure, yet the caller was persistent. The sound of the phone rattling against wood pulled Kai out of his dream state as he lazily pressed the thing against his ear.

"You're awake?

Is this person serious?

"Who's this?" Kai pulled the phone away to look at the screen. Oh. "Beomgyu hyung."

That completely took the sleepiness out of him.

"I woke you up," Beomgyu concluded.

"It's 3am, hyung. Of course, I'll be asleep."

Beomgyu chuckled at the tone Kai was using. "I'm sorry. I tried counting sheep, but I still couldn't sleep," There was a pause. "Holy shit, that rhymes."

The laughter that fills the empty spaces doesn't entertain Kai at all. "You woke me up for this?"

"Well, why did you pick up my call?"

"I didn't know it was you."

"You're still talking to me now," Beomgyu prodded further.

Kai sighs. "What friends do," That alone made Beomgyu laugh—how dumb. "You seem so happy."

"I want to tell you something."

Thud thud. "What the.." Kai shuffled from his bed when he heard noises from his balcony.

"It's me! Look outside."

Kai's feet had minds of their own when they took sure steps by the window and saw Beomgyu's car by the driveway. The owner was sitting on the trunk with his phone pressed against his ear and hand waving to get Kai's attention—as if his white sweater wasn't enough to make him stand out.

"What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to see you."

Words were stolen from Kai's system. He would be lying if he said that the reason wasn't Beomgyu's confession.

"Okay," Beomgyu said with his calm voice. "You can go back to sleep now."

Kai stutters, "What?"

"I miss you, I want to see you—I'm being kinder to myself by doing just that," He was nonchalant about everything when Kai could barely think straight.

It's too early for this.

"Can you come down? You deserve an explanation."

"Very much," Kai felt small. "Proper closure."

Beomgyu scoffed softly. "Not closure. I never wanted us to stop, Hyuka. I was just mad and upset.. and scared. I ended up saying all the hurtful things."

When Kai couldn't find the right words to respond with, Beomgyu continued. "Please."

It was enough to pull the loose strings in Kai's heart.
