Kai neatly aligned his books in the last box before shutting it close to add his name. He ended up needing more than he asked for, and Beomgyu's voice was ringing at the back of his head like a broken record. "I told you so."

He practices his apathy when Beomgyu tries getting smart with him. It's not like it's his fault for getting distracted and lost anyway, definitely not with all that happened for the past year.

For starters, they all graduated from Yeonseo University with Taehyun topping his class before spring break. It was a lot of adjusting and soul searching—realizing that they have zero idea of what to do with their lives, especially Kai who felt the most anxious when he heard about the admission tests for law schools approaching earlier than he expected.

Taehyun joins a study camp as a preparation, Yeonjun took a few months off for his well-being before joining Beomgyu in a great company, while Soobin—who was the most conflicted about his path among the five of them—scored a scholarship for an accelerated program in a medical school.

Getting together for a drink has never been so interesting before.

Kai flunked his first attempt of the admission test, but did great on his next. In between, Beomgyu saw so much anguish and messy cries, but he was there to pick the pieces Kai breaks into.

It almost felt like karma—the universe teaching Kai a lesson for all his desperate days of chasing time and paving his own way immediately. He learned the hard way.

"Isn't this your journal?" Kai picked up a familiar notebook and dangled it around for Beomgyu to see. It's still good as new, a few pages clean.

Beomgyu breathes through his nose for a soft laugh before walking closer. "I haven't seen it in a while."

"So, you stopped writing?" Kai ignored the way his heart accelerated to the close proximity and the feeling of Beomgyu's arms around his waist.

"I stopped when we got together officially," Beomgyu chirped. "I got myself a human journal."

Kai smirked. "Is that so?"

Beomgyu snakes his hand behind Kai to lean in, pushing the younger one against the desk to reach for the box. "You tell me."

The gap closes and their lips touch. Years later, Beomgyu still kisses Kai like never before.

And there are two things in Kai's mind at that moment:

1. People work at their own pace.

2. Choi Beomgyu is a great kisser.
