POV charlie

the travel through the portal was an instance, I was no longer in a cave, but a lush open garden, full of bush and planets, a lot of the flowers were the blue once, the same as I put on Crystal's grave, I paused looking at them, then the same ping of guilt, letting her died.

"Charlie? How'd you get through the portal so quick?" I looked to my left finding Ember.

"Ember it's been like half an hour since you went through...Oh, time travel, that makes scenes, we could have gone through that portal days apart, and both end up here within seconds," I answered.

suddenly the portal collapsed, "Well we aren't going back, so where are we do you think?" Ember asked, looking about.

"A garden, if I were to say, this place is clearly looked after," I said. I unhooked my umbrella and learned on it, the stab wound I had taken from my sister still hurt.

"No shit, I meant like general location," Ember said. "Where did that portal take us, I don't recognize this place," Ember said.

I jumped on the spot, "Gravity normal, so still on the overworld," I looked up, "Nighttime, yet again something is keeping the garden light, oh that's interesting," I said examining the stars.

"Oh that's weird, are the stars different?" Ember asked.

"Yes, and that linked with the scans I took of the portal, We've time travelled, either 1000s of years in the past or 1000s or years in the future," I said, I looked about and Ember was gone, "Ember? Ember is not funny," I called, no answer.

I walked over to the closes cover, a bush, "What was that Charlie?" I jumped on the spot and fell into the bush, "Ha, this that comfortable down there?"

"And what the devil were you doing?" I asked.

"I saw a trap door," Ember said.

I brushed myself down, Ember lead me to a wooden trap door, I pulled on it and it didn't move, "I tried that, it's locked," Ember said. "Do you not have a gadget to open it?" Ember asked.

I held the sonic screwdriver to it, but it won't work, "Ahh, my sonic isn't working, maybe some kind of dampening field," I said.

Ember thought for a moment, held up his netherite sword, and stabbed it down, energy shot out, into the sword, it sparked from Ember's hand crashing down onto the ground, the energy continued to shoot out, and I pushed Ember back holding up Excbulr, the energy shot into my sword but not doing zapping it out of my hand.

once the energy stopped Ember went to retrieve his weapon, every time he went near it, "Och," energy zapped out his hand, "Here take this, you'll like get more use out of it than me," I handed him Exculbr, "Take good care of it," I said.

I leaned down and to my surprise, the netherite sword didn't zap me, so I took up Ember's weapon, "Well it worked, the trap door is open," Ember said, a leader waiting for us.

"You want to go first or should I?" I asked Ember, he walked over and started to go down the ladder, "How far down does it go do you think?" I asked.

"Quite a way down, I can't see the bottom," Ember said, I felt around my pocket, finding a coin, I leaned back and dropped the coin.

10 seconds later, and I heard the sound of it echoing from the floor, "we might be claiming a while," I muttered.

when we reached the bottom, a tunnel, the walls were a mix of bricks and carved faces, the tunnel was light thanks to lanterns all over the place, "Well this is very Indiana Jones," I joked.

Ember looked around, "If this was a trap, I sure that portal would have led into a lava pool or something," I nodded in argument, we started down the hull, when there was allowed click, I looked about, and Ember tackled me to the ground as an arrow implied the wall right where I was. "Traps we should be careful," Ember said.
