POV Patrick
three of us stood around the table, me, Lucas and charlie, Lucas had to leave soon, time for his trial, I hope he passes, I can't see anyone better than him leading the defender in the future, "So we ruled out a fall frontal assault, and a stealth attack, so what can we do? you grandmaster, have more expanse than me in battle, what do you think?" Lucas asked.
I looked over to Charlie, now staring at the map, he had that look on his face lost deep in thought, "What does my Scientific advisor think about this?" I asked.
Charlie looked up, "Hmm, war isn't my area of course, but I would say a two-sided attack? a handful of you cause a distraction at the front gate, why that's going on, the rest of us lunch a surprise attack from behind," Charlie suggested.
"We can't leave the sanctuary undefended, we have 1000s of civilians and injured here," Lucas pointed out.
"Agreed, Elite and a handful of defenders will stay behind, Lyria as well, she's still too hurt to fight, Shizuku as well, she might have that water thing, but she's still a kid, we can't justify taking her into a war zone," I said, "I'm sure Lyria will be more willing to babysit Charlene," I added.
the door opened, and two defenders walked in, "Lucas it is time,"
Lucas pulled his hood tighter, "So it is," he said walking to the door, "It would be my honour if you and your friends were to watch, I have 1 hour to fully prepare,"
I nodded, "I will see who's willing to watch," I answered.
we both looked over to Charlie, "hun, not my kinda spot but sure," He asked.
POV Lucas
No weapons, no armour, just me, and my cloak, I entered the grand chamber, the overhead light was near blinding, blocking out those in the viewing box, and then the first of my challenges appears. she was taller than me, in the robes of our people, she raised her sword and I took up a defensive stance.
she charged at me, I dodged left, jabbed into her lower hip, she recoiled, I grabbed her right forearm, twisting it, causing her to drop the sword, I brought my free hand up and landed a solid punch to her face, then another punch to the gut, dropping the attacker to the ground, I will not kill, not them it is possible to pass without killing, but that does not go for them they will kill me.
I had let myself be distracted by the thought, a sword, entered my chest, two inches to the left, and I would have died in a second, I felt the sword pull from my chest, I fell to my knees, I could feel the blade readied to strike.
POV Charlie
Patrick, Sheila, Alex, Daryll, Rain, Crystal and Azura, who had brought baby Charlene with her. we were sat in this box with rows of seats, and a glass floor that showed over an area battle, "Do you think he'll make it?" Daryll asked.
"He's good at fighting, he'll make it," Sheila said.
we watched, the fight, as he beat the first challenger, Charlene was crying, and Azura was trying to calm her, "Shh, shh," It's alright," Azura said, rocking the child back and forth. then the blade stabbed into Lucas.
half of us stood as the blade went to behead, the Baby crying louder and louder, then everything seemed to reverse, I looked about, suddenly Lucas was no longer stabbed, he looked at me as confused but this time he dodged the attack, I check my watch, time had reversed by a minute, everyone else here didn't seem to notice it, Azura seemed confused but was too focused on Charlene to notice, as the baby started to stop crying.
I will investigate this later, for now, I'll watch, and hope Lucas doesn't die, the battle continued for a good few hours, and he ended up fighting off 39 other defenders.
