CADE POV

"Hey dad," I ran outside, "hey what's going on today?" The other members of the pack were out on a hunt right now.

"I don't know yet," he shook his head, "with colder weather right around the corner, we need to stock up on food. You talked to Cyprus at all recently?"

"No," I sighed, "that's uh- that's actually what I wanted to talk to you about though. I uh- I've been doing some thinking and-"

"You're not going there," he immediately denied, "no way. Too dangerous."

I wanted to argue it, I know I'm strong enough to do this, I know I am, "Dad come on, I'm 19. I-"

"No," he snapped, "I said no. Cyprus should have never gone in the first place, we need him here."

"Why?" I asked, "I mean... I don't want to sound rude but we seem to be okay. The last group of vampires that came through for the stone didn't even stand a chance. They left as quickly as they walked in basically. People are scared of you guys, having me gone isn't going to make you guys less threatening."

"Why are you pushing this Cade?" he growled lowly, "you're not thinking about leaving are you?"

"What?" I laughed nervously, "No. No of course not." I scratched the back of my head and looked back to see him staring at me. Like... if looks could kill, I'd be dead type of look. I pointed behind me, "I'm gonna- uh- I'm gonna go see if mom needs anything." I spun around and took off towards the house, running in the door.

"Everything okay?" mom asked, "you look, I don't know, something."

"I'm fine," I sighed, "I just, I don't know. I don't really want to talk about it."

"I heard," she chuckled, "you guys aren't that far from the house. Listen, I know you want to go. I get it. Being cooped in these woods I'm sure sucks but things could be much much worse. This is all for the better."

"But you guys are strong enough to defend," I reassured, "mom, please. What if we could get the third stone?" Her eyes shot to mine and she looked right through me.

"What are you talking about?" she asked.

"Mom, come on," I shook my head, "it's no secret, none of it is. We've all talked about it and I really think if we got together- me, Lilly, Fen, Aelia and Cyprus, if we got together we could get it. We can."

"It's too dangerous," she shook her head, "I can't-"

"I know we're really only like ten years old but I'm 19 or 20 maturity and intelligence wise. We all are, we can do this," I nodded, "mom please."

"No," she shook her head, "I'm sorry. I can't." That's a lie. I can read it, I can see it everywhere... it's a lie.

"You can," I proclaimed, "you can. You can tell me it's okay right now and I can go and get to Elmway in an hour."

"It'll take you longer than that," she shook her head, "three hours at least. We're far from there."

"I can get there before the end of the night," I grabbed her hands, "mom please."

She looked at me for a few seconds before dad walked through the door, "Arcadeus! I already said no!"

"Justin!" mom snapped, "relax. Go back outside and breathe before you barge in this house yelling like that." I was nervous, every hair was standing on me as I watched him stare me down. He looked at mom and then walked back outside, slamming the door shut behind him. "Go to your room," she mouthed, "now." I didn't hesitate, I was in my room with the door shut in a matter of seconds. I could hear the two of them talking through the wall, they were standing right outside my room.
