40: RedWater

LILLY POV

I still haven't found him. I found his phone but that's about it. The phone is off and I haven't been able to turn it back on. I still can't track him and I have absolutely no clues. I've asked I swear every person walking the streets around here and only one person claims they saw a woman who fit Carrie's description. They told me she had a man with her, someone who was helping her carry a large wooden box. They told me the direction they watched her drive off in and I was onto the next town, Redwater. 

Once they told me about the two of them, a girl and a boy I knew it had to be Carrie and Zero but what was in the box? What were they taking? Was Zero actually taken or did he want to be with her? I don't know what to think, what to feel. I'm completely lost on what to do next.

When I finally got to Redwater the town was small. I've never been here, I didn't even know it existed. It's not on a map, it's barely populated and as soon as I stepped foot within the city limits, all eyes were on me. Every person I saw was staring right back at me, not taking their eyes away. Something isn't right here. 

I quickly ran to a nearby building that had caution tape wrapped around the entirety of it. The floors had holes where the water rot got the best of it. There were holes in walls where all sorts of living creatures could could find homes. The smell was musty and the air inside was damp and heavy. I made my way to the top floor, breaking a single board away from the window so I could have a sliver of light and a small hole to look through that I could see everything. 

I looked around and when no one was looking at the building anymore I felt a sense of relief come over me. I sat down and leaned my head back, talking to myself, "where are you Zero? God... are you even okay? Do you even want to see me? Should I even fucking be here right now? I don't even know if I'm in the right place!" I felt a sudden push of wind and a note appeared in front of me. How the... how did this get to me? I quickly opened it and saw the handwriting. 

Fen. 

I read it aloud to myself, "Lilly we need you back home right now. We have a situation with Cade and Aelia, they need our help NOW. You need to come home. We will figure it out with Zero." My heart sank as I started to wonder what happened with Aelia and Cade. Why didn't he say anything? Why didn't he just tell me what was going on? Probably some tactic to get me back home. I pulled out a pen from thin air, writing back to him that I can't come home, that I'm close to finding him. I sent the note and within seconds I had a response from him arguing me. That's when he told me Nick had them and memories flashed back to seeing Cyprus all beat up by him. I remember when Justin took over their land that is still technically Justin's. I looked around and contemplated leaving before standing up and rushing back home. 

I made sure to stay hidden the entire run back and by the time I got there it was early morning, 3am. I walked in the door and shut it slowly to try and not wake anyone. It was short lived however, Fen came running down the hall and when he saw me he ran and gave me a hug, "oh my god thank god you're okay." He pulled back with both hands on my shoulders shaking me a bit as he talked, "you are okay right?" He looked around me and I couldn't help but laugh a bit, telling him I was fine. "Cyprus is sleeping," he walked into the kitchen and pulled out a plate before sliding it into the microwave, "so we'll get together and talk about it when everyone is up." 

"What happened?" I asked, "I mean how did Nick get ahold of them?" 

"Not sure," he shook his head, "Dad made me, Cyprus and Anna and Caitlyn all leave to come back and look for you. Cade was supposed to come but he chose to stay with Aelia. She sent Anna a note, here hold on." He walked over to the drawer and pulled out an envelope. I opened it quickly and read the note. I'm shocked, unsure of what to think.
