36: Home Again

CADE POV

The drive was long, too long. Baymoor is quite the drive, a drive I really don't want to make again. Knowing we'll be making a trip back like this, I'm not necessarily looking forward to it. We had to stop for so many bathroom breaks, snack breaks and sometimes to simply stretch. Most of us have been quiet, not much talking, not much laughing. The music played so the silence wasn't so deafening. We were told to go to Kira's so I assume that's where everyone was meeting. 

We pulled into the driveway and it looked just the same as it did when we left. I put the car in park and we all filed out as Kira and the others walked out of the house. 

"Mom," I smiled as soon as I saw her. God I've missed her. I basically ran to her and wrapped her in a hug. 

"Hi my sweet boy," she rubbed my back, "how are you? We've missed you so much." I looked over to see dad and I hugged him tightly. His hug was sturdy, snug and warm. 

"Where's your brother?" he asked. 

"Oh he's uhm- he's in the car just uhm- you may want to-" I didn't know how to tell them. I know they'll freak out.

"What is it?" my mom started to talk towards the car. Lilly and Fenrys were hugging their parents, Caitlyn stood close behind him. Anna was helping Cyprus out of the car, he can't stand, can't walk. "Oh my god," my mom grasped and covered her mouth, "oh my god what happened?" 

"I'm okay," Cyprus shook his head, "Esme I'm okay, I'm alright."

"What happened?" dad turned and looked at me before looking at everyone else. Aelia was making her way to Kai, she was already in tears. 

"It was my fault," Cyprus explained to them, "I-I got pissed off and I went to see my mom." Both of them were shocked and as I looked at Kira and Jace and then Kai... they were just as surprised. "I got my powers back though," he started to laugh and I darted to Anna who looked at him confused but smiling so no one else wondered anything. "I-I can feel them," he nodded, "Once this stuff heals up I'll be fine." 

"Who did this?" dad asked. Cyprus looked at him for a few seconds and then dad asked again, this time more stern.

"Daniel," Cyprus looked at the ground and dad went to take him from Anna so she didn't have to carry him. He stopped at looked at her. 

"You're a -" he stopped but started to laugh a bit, "uhm- sorry, when did you transition?" 

"Justin," Cyprus' voice was bitty, strict, "seriously? How about how are you?" 

"It's fine," Anna chuckled, "it happened a few months ago. Some stuff went down and well.... yeah. Rose was involved too, she didn't make it." He looked over at Aelia, mom too. Dad took Cyprus inside and we all followed him. I said hi to Kira and Jace and then walked over to Kai. I could tell he was down. 

"How are you?" I asked, "I'm sorry man, I really am." 

"Did uh- who asked all of you to come?" he scratched his nose a bit. I could tell he was nervous. 

"Aunt Kira," I could feel myself making a face but I really wasn't trying to, "why?" 

"I don't know I just- look I'm happy you're all here but I told all of them I needed time," he shook his head and looked down. Atleast he's telling the truth. He continued to talk, "I just feel like, I-" His voice was starting to get shaky and I pulled him into a hug. He cried into my shoulder and all I could do was hug him, tell him that everything will be okay. He picked up his head, "I'm sorry, I just, I'm really a mess right now." He was nervously laughing now. "I-I don't know what to do with myself," he shook his head and turned around to look out the window, "we're burying him tomorrow and uh honestly, I'm not ready. I'm not ready for it at all."
