55: The Gathering

CADE POV

It was a long night. We saved the cleaning up for this morning. I'm not looking forward to it. We're burying friends, family today. Nick and his pack are mourning the loss of five of their pack members. My dad... also five.

No one has really talked about it, it's more or less just those who I saw before and haven't seen since. I know Maelyn is out there, Xion too... Vega has been torn up about it. I can't imagine what she's going through. They have a daughter together, they stayed back at the cave, all the little ones did along with some of the older children.

I rolled over and kissed Narah on her head before standing out. I could hear voices out back so that's where I went, to check out what it was. I stepped outside to see me dad, Jace, Nick and some of the other pack members standing around and talking.

"Hey bud," my dad walked over to me, "how're you feeling?"

"I-I'm alright," I nodded, "I'm okay. How are you?"

"I don't know yet," he shook his head, "we'll be okay though. All of us will get through it together."

"How's Narah?" he asked.

"Sleeping," I nodded, "she's alright. A little sore but she'll probably be okay today."

"So how'd you meet her?" he questioned.

I chuckled a bit, "I uh- actually, me and Aelia ended up with Nicks pack. Some shit happened-" he turned to look at him but I grabbed his arm, "it's done, it's ended. That's why they came today. So anyways, Narah probably stopped worse things from happening to me. She saved me. Camille, the girl who's with Aelia, she saved her from their. Managed to get the others, bring them back. Big fight happened, we won." He smiled and gave me a hug, "what's her last name? The first name sounds familiar. Narah. You know, I think that means Queen of Wolves."

"Narah Dunn," I nodded, "her mom-"

"Her mother was an alpha," he nodded, "I remember them, actually. We- they used to come over when I was young still. I think her name was Maia Dunn, Scottish, her parents died at a young age, leaving her in charge. She didn't have a daughter when she was coming around us but I remember her."

"That's awesome," I chuckled, "it's kind of sad though. She was born and something happened between her parents after a while and the wolves went looking for her, killed her mom and took her. Made her serve under them and when she was 18 she left. That's when Nick's pack found her and well- you know how they can be." He laughed a bit and nodded his head.

"You've been treating her right?" he asked more seriously. I nodded my head. "And her? Does she make you happy?"

"Happier than I've ever been," I smiled large, "really, she's amazing. You'll really like her, I know it."

"I'm sure," he nodded some more, "I'm sure I will." The door opened and out walked Lilly and Fenrys.

"Morning," Lilly smiled, "how is everyone feeling?"

"Good morning kiddos," Jace walked over, "you guys ready for today? We've got a few things going on."

"What are we doing?" Fen asked, "I mean I know we have to... to um- to-"

"Yeah," Jace sighed, "yeah, but after that we'll get together everything to make the call for the Gathering. Once we do that, we wait for the day. When that day comes we'll go to the common grounds where we'll be able to make our announcement and hopefully fuse us all together into one faction instead of three."

"Okay," I nodded, "so what I'm hearing is... I need to wake everyone up so we can get this show on the road?" Dad started to laugh, Jace too. They nodded their heads and I went inside.
