We finally catch the right subway and ride a long, boring ride up to where we started, through that station and up to Times Square. Sadly, commuters begin to file into the trains. However, luckily, they give one glance at us and go to the next car, so nobody asked us about the horses. Just went on with their days. But hey, New York and everything in it is weird, surprising, funky, so we can't be THAT weird. I mean seriously. New York is pretty cool. (A/N For those of you who read this book from the beginning, yes, she had lived in New York City. I changed it to Boston, however, because if she knew too much about New York, the story wouldn't be exciting. So now, she read about New York and studied the subway map so that's how she's gotten around. For now hehe.)
Again the subway screeches to a halt and we trot off and onto the platform.
"Grand Central, next stop, Harlem 125th." We hear an unclear voice over the intercom system in the train as the doors slam behind us.
"Okay, guys, this way." We swipe our cards again and squeeze our way through and towards the steps. We find ourselves in a huge hall with a giant domed ceiling and an Apple store at the end.
"Whoah!" Skylar and Alex say in unison.
"Yep, this must be..." I trail off and begin to ponder, "...Grand Central Terminal!"
We take a long walk but finally find ourselves breathing a breath of fresh air. Well, not so fresh. The subway fumes are still wafting up from the platform.
"Well, we're not exactly where we are, but we're close. We need a cab, though. That would be really helpful, ya know?"
I say.
"Wait!" Skylar says excitedly, "I totally forgot, omg. Guys, so Charlotte, you know how I was in Boston? Well I was visiting my Grandma for my birthday. She gave me 50 dollars, as part of my present! I can get us a cab!"
I exchange a frown with Alex.
"I don't wanna use your birthday money though. That should be making you happy, not for our quest." I say.
"Hey, saving Jorvik is my present." She responds and we all smile.
