Chapter Eleven|We Disscuss Serious Matters with a Chipmunk

The next morning I woke up at 10:30. I kept on my riding clothes and left my stable. I headed towards the notice board to meet Skylar.

"Hey!" I say.

"Hey," she replies, "Here's Frost."

She hands me the lead rope and I care for Frost, then I mount her.

"We have to go to Frip now." She says.
I follow her out of Goldenleaves Stables, across the bridge, past the vendors, and through the valley. We pass the Riding Hall and take a path I am not familiar with. We finally reach a rock with purple glowing drawings engraved in it. There is a winding path going around and leading up to the rock.

"Keep a trot and follow the path to the middle." Skylar tells me.

I go around the circle in a slow trot (just to be careful) and finally I reach the middle and the rock begins to glow. As soon as I know it, I am swept off my feet and I land in an open area surrounded by rocks. Alex is on my right and Skylar is to my left. As soon as I know it, I'm cracking up. Alex is speaking with a chipmunk! Alex looks at me with a look that says, 'cut it out' and the chipmunk crosses his arms and looks at me, too. I stifle a laugh with my soft riding glove.

"Is this real?" I say.

"This is-" Alex is cut off by the chipmunk.

"This is very real. Get used to it. I'm Frip, leader of the Druids. And you are?"

"Charlotte Baker," I say. "So, um-never mind." I decide not to ask how he can talk.

"So, what did you guys decide?" Skylar says.

Alex and Frip exchange looks.

"Quest." Frip says squeakily.

"Well, I have to care for my other horses and ponies and arrange for stable care help." Skylar says.

"I have to get my lucky coin." Alex says.

This seemed to be a set-up, both people I were familiar with were leaving. I was left with a chipmunk that I seemed to have offended.

Alex and Skylar leave and I look at Frip.

"Your last name is Baker? Huh." Frip says.

I decide that I need to understand what is going on.

"What is this 'quest' all about? And who is Sabine? And why does everybody care that my last name is Baker?" I guess I kinda expected Frip to know everything.

"This quest is to find Sabine."

"Why? Sabine was at a riding ring at the Grey Mist Coast and she lives at Goldenleaves Stables." I protest.

"Sabine is a missing Soul Rider. She does not live at Goldenleaves. She has been missing for years. Part of our team's job is to fight Dark Core with the Soul Riders at our side. Sabine and Anne are still missing. If you saw her, we have a chance of getting her back. That is extremely important for Jorvik's survival."

"Last of all, who are the Druids? And, why does the name Baker matter so much?!"

"The Druids are a team of good people who are fighting to save Jorvik. Your name being important, you will see. Don't worry. Being a Baker isn't bad."

As soon as I know it Alex and Skylar are back at my side.

"You guys ready?" Alex asks.

"But where do we start?" Skylar and I say in unison. Where DO we start?
