Students passed by the field, heading home after school. Timi watched as he sat on the pavillion, he had earlier told Moyo to meet him there to talk, and he was eagerly awaiting her arrival.
Finally, Moyo showed up, but she seemed to be in a hurry. Timi decided to keep the conversation brief, sensing that something might be bothering her.
"What's going on?" Timi asked.
"Nothing. I'm serious, Nothing. I've been to busy reading for my papers that's why... I'm sorry if I made it seem like there was something going on between us." Moyo said "although there is one thing... I didn't like that you accused me of reporting Zuriel, if I tell you 'I didn't do something' then I didn't do it, I don't like Zuriel, but I know if I report - my sister could've gotten in trouble so I decided not to."
Timi was overwhelmed with conflicting emotions. Part of him yearned for Moyo to express her anger, hoping it would provide an easy way out of the relationship he had grown tired of.
Thankfully, Moyo didn't bring up the awkward topic of their intimate encounter, sparing them both from further discomfort. Timi was grateful that they didn't have to discuss it; the memory alone was enough to make him cringe, and he wanted to avoid any more embarrassment.
In an attempt to convey affection, Timi leaned in to kiss Moyo on the cheek, but she withdrew slightly, opting for a comforting hug instead. It was evident that this gesture was more suitable for their current situation, providing a sense of closure without delving into deeper complexities.
The food and nutrition papers were finally done, and Chika waited just outside their class for Tope, after Malik had eventually gone home. She was in the process of submitting her paper when she noticed him standing there.
Nerves and excitement mingled within Chika, as he revealed his plan to tell Malik about his feelings. Tope, always supportive, encouraged him to go for it with caution and without delay.
"I forgot to tell you yesterday, he couldn't stop talking about you, 'Has Chika ever done this', 'Has Chika ever done that' he probably likes you too" Tope quoted Malik.
"I saw him charging yesterday. And I was shocked." Chika blurted out.
"Seriously? How? Is he big?"
"Yes! If his brother had not come looking for him, he'd have broken my back yesterday"
Tope burst into laughter at Chika's euphemism.
"How would you even tell him you like him? Don't say you're gay o! It'd just sound weird" She advised with a teasing smile. "I wish I could be there to help you but I can't, Please don't do anything stupid, make sure he likes you back before you tell him"
Tope's support meant the world to Chika, and he hugged her tightly before they head off for home together.
Besides math department, Jason noticed Zuriel sitting on a bench, leaning against the fake brick walls, right in front of his mom's office. His immediate assumption was that she had gotten into trouble again.
"What happened? Why are you sitting here?" Jason asked, taking a seat beside Zuriel.
"Oh nothing I was tired and I needed somewhere to sit, I'd soon go sef" Zuriel said.
"Where is Stephanie?" Jason asked.
"With her boyfriend and that other one should be with his girlfriend" Zuriel referred to Timi.
"So we're the single ones in our group" Jason remarked. Zuriel laughed in agreement.
"Who relationship help?"
Jason couldn't stop laughing, bonding with Zuriel was always enjoyable. Despite being closer to Stephanie, he cherished his moments with Zuriel. He eventually excused himself and went to see his mom inside her office.
At the gate, Stephanie couldn't wait for Beamer any longer, so she decided to go to their class and check on him, wondering what was taking him so long. As she approached their classroom, she was taken aback to see Beamer engaged in a heated argument with Lekan.
"...But you know you fuck up" Lekan said. "You're lucky she bashed it"
"Or you'd do what?" Beamer asked.
"Beamer let's go" Stephanie pleaded, feeling uncomfortable with the tension between them.
Beamer glanced back at Stephanie, trying to assure her, but he wasn't backing down from the argument. "I already told you I wanted to give you but you were too impatient and you put yourself inside trouble. Now you're blaming me because of what?" Beamer explained to Lekan
"Guy shut up! " Lekan demanded, but Beamer managed a smile, determined not to let Lekan infuriate him. "Guy normally you no get sense, if you get sense, you for no smile like this, because you no get sense I fuck your babe" Lekan blurted out, clearly trying to provoke a reaction from Beamer.
Stephanie didn't know how to react to what Lekan said. Beamer could tell from the look on her face that there might be some truth to Lekan's words.
"Stephanie, what's he saying?" Beamer asked, seeking some clarity.
Stephanie was at a loss for words, unable to respond. Beamer gathered his things and walked past her, leaving the classroom. Stephanie glared at Lekan, but he remained unfazed. Feeling the need to sort things out, Stephanie hurriedly left the classroom to catch up with Beamer. But, she couldn't reach him, and eventually, she had to give up. The situation left her feeling torn.
Jason got home to three missed calls from LGM on his phone. Concerned that something urgent might have happened, he immediately dialed her number, but she didn't pick up the call.
So he left her a text "sorry we haven't spoken in a while, I was too busy with my exams... I saw your call tho...
Anyways a lot has happened... Just found out Timi had sex with Moyo - This is the same person that ended things with me because of his own 'morals', it was never about morals to begin with, it's always been his internalized homophobia, and I understand that. I just wish he could've let us navigate that together. At one point in my life, I also thought I was a bad person for being attracted to guys, I thought I was a 'sin against nature', I was too ashamed of myself to turn to God, I still very much struggle to define my relationship with God, because the same people that tell me to love him and others, hate anyone who's like me.
Later I realized there was nothing inherently wrong about being queer, if anything; it shaped me to be the person that I am today, it gave me a different view of life, I'm not a judgemental person because I know what it's like to be judged..."
Jason paused, realizing he might be sharing too much, and decided to end it there for the mean time.
"Also, Timi wants to stay at my place for a few days... This is going to be really hard because we'd be sleeping on the same bed..." Jason added to his message.
As he was typing, Timi suddenly barged into his room with his luggage in tow.
"Who let you enter?" Jason asked, feeling a bit startled.
"Ahan, you didn't want me to come before?" Timi replied, playfully dumping his stuff on the ground.
Jason just shook his head and continued with what he was doing, trying to keep his emotions in check.
Timi attempted to strike up a conversation, but Jason wasn't interested. Every time Timi got closer, Jason instinctively moved farther away, creating an obvious distance between them. This reaction worried Timi, as he was actually contemplating the possibility of getting back together with Jason, but now he felt that might not be as easy as he thought.
