James: Mm... wha-?
James woke up after a long, deep sleep. After such a long and hard mission, a good sleep must have hit hard, and it did. His sleep must have been long because he feels so refreshed now. It's almost like he fully recovered from his mission. His eyes were currently adjusting to the brightness.
As soon as his eyes adjusted, what his eyes saw, was unfamiliar.
James: (Huh? Where am I?)
Marie: Good morning.
James' eyes fully adjusted. He realised he was at the HQ, lying on the living room couch. He saw Marie in the kitchen, doing what looks like making breakfast. He wondered, why could he possibly be here of all places?
James: Wha... why am I here?
Marie: Oh, you don't remember? You passed out on that couch after your mission yesterday.
James: Oh... right.
Marie: You looked so comfortable. I didn't want to wake you up or move you.
James: Right... what are you doing?
Marie: Making pancakes. Do you want some?
James: That would be nice. Yes, please.
Marie: Alright, then.
Marie pours more of her batter into her pan and makes a few more pancakes.
James: It smells delicious. Did you make that batter yourself?
Marie: Yeah, I did. Are you gonna get off that couch yet?
James: Aw... but it's so comfortable.
Marie: Yeah, I know, I wish I could sleep forever as well.
James: Alright, I'll get up.
James gets up off the couch and walks over to the kitchen. He took a good sniff of Marie's pancakes.
James: Jeez, it smells good. You must have a good homemade recipe.
Marie: Callie and I used to make them all the time. It's kind of a family tradition, after all.
Marie finished with making James' pancakes and served them to him hot on a plate with maple syrup and fruit.
James: (I'm sorry, Marie, are you a chef or something?)
Marie: Bon appetit.
James: Thank you.
James took one bite of the pancakes and immediately froze.
James: ...wow
He had never tasted pancakes this good in his entire life. Not from restaurants, or his mom, who is a great cook in James' eyes. He's never tasted better than Marie's cooking.
Marie: You like it?
James: Do I like it? I love it! Pancakes aren't my favourite thing to eat for breakfast, but you just made it taste even better!
Marie: Wow! Thank you!
Marie was in shock. She gets compliments from Callie about her cooking all the time but getting it from a non-family member is different. It intrigued her.
Marie: Hey, since you're here...
Marie had an idea. She wanted to take James out on what hopefully will be a date. She had never really found love until now with James. His personality and confidence made her absolutely fall for him.
James: Yeah, Marie.
Marie: Do you... want to go to Inkopolis for a while? Like, together?
James: Huh? What do you mean?
