-The day after James lost in the tournament-

It was a bright morning in Inkopolis. The sun shone down on James' house, waking him up.

James: Ugh. I should've closed my blinds.

As soon as he got out of his bed, he remembered what happened the day before.

James: Oh yeah, that happened. I have to think about making the decision whether to move to the HQ or not. I mean, it really makes sense for me to do that, but I don't want to make my mates sad again...

He thought for a moment, then he put a confident look on his face.

James: I know what to do, and I have to tell the guys.

He walked out of his room and into the living room, where the guys are already there chatting.

Harrison: Oh, you're awake.

James: Yeah. Are you surprised or something? *he chuckled*

Harrison: No, I'm just acknowledging it. You fell asleep quickly last night.

James: Really?

Max: Yeah. You were out cold as soon as you hit the bed.

James: Well, I'm not surprised. I've been very busy lately.

Max: We've noticed. Are you sure you're okay, bro?

James: Actually. I do want to talk to you guys about something very important.

Harrison: Yeah? What is it?

He sits down.

James: As you can tell, I've been very busy with the agent stuff and all that. Now, I've had several chats with... the head agent... and they are quite desperate for me to stay at the HQ, which is quite far from here. For the last 3 or so days, I have been travelling there every morning, and even I'm getting sick of it. This whole agent thing with Callie going missing and the Octarians trying to take over Inkopolis, it's probably the most important thing I've ever done in my life. It makes complete sense for me to stay at the HQ, and I think it will be the best of both worlds. Now, I've been holding this back because of you guys. This is probably very hard on you guys, especially since you came here to be Turf War champions.

*silence*

James: You know what, I'll make a promise to you. Once all of this agent stuff is done and problems are taken care of, I'll be back, alright? *he said confidently*

The guys: Yeah.

James: I'm glad you guys understand. I'll be gone for a while, but don't worry, I promise I'll be back.

Harrison: We're gonna miss you, y'know?

James: Oh, I know that. I'll be missing you guys too.

Max: You better not die on us.

James: Trust me, I won't.

Harry: Good luck out there, bro. We'll see you later.

James: As will I. Alright, I've got some packing to do.

James then made his way into his room to pack up some necessities to bring to the Squidbeak HQ. He packed clothes, accessories, electronics, and more.

*knock knock*

James: Yeah?

*click*

Max: Hey, man.

James: Hey.

Max: You need help packing up?

James: Nah, I'm pretty much good from here, thanks.

Max: No problem. *pause* Hey, James?

James looked up at Max.

James: Yeah?

Max: Have fun while you're gone, bro. We'll be practicing our Turf War skills while you're gone. Just make sure you have a good time away from here.

James: I'm going to, okay? And by the way, don't spend too much time working on your Turf War, I want you to have fun while I'm gone, too.

Max: Alright, will do.

He then left James' room and closed the door.

James: Dang, I'm gonna miss these guys... but I'll be back. I promised I'd see them again.

James was just about done packing up when he looked up at his wall and saw a framed photo of him and his family. The photo included him, his mother, and his younger brother. He walked up to the photo.

James: I'm not leaving you guys behind.

He then took the photo and put it on the top of his suitcase and closed it.

James: I guess I'm packed and ready to go.

He paused for a moment, thinking that he was forgetting something.

James: Oh, that's right! I have to call Marie and tell her I'm moving in!

He took out his phone and started dialling Marie's number.

*beep*

Marie: Hello?

James: Hey, Marie.

Marie: Hey, what's up?

James: Good news, I'm moving in.

Marie: Yay! That's wonderful!

James: I know.

Marie: Do your friends know about this?

James: Oh, they're well aware.

Marie: Awesome! So, when are you moving in?

James: I'm packed and ready to go now. I'll be on my way soon.

Marie: Great! See you then!

James: See ya!

*beep*

James was silent for a moment. Then reality set in. He realised that after coming to Inkopolis to live with them, he's truly leaving his friends to live somewhere else... for the time being.

James: I guess it's time to say goodbye.

He then grabbed his bags, took a good look at his room, and opened the door into the living room where he could see his 3 friends standing.

James: You're here to send me off?

Harrison: Yep. You can't leave without a proper goodbye.

Max: We wish you all the best, James. Good luck out there.

Harry: I hope you'll come back ready for another try at the Turf War Tournament!

James: Oh, I will. Trust me, I'll be back and better than ever once I've dealt with this situation.

Max: Good luck, mate. We'll see you once you come back.

James: You better train for Turf War while I'm gone *he points at the guys*

The guys laughed.

Harrison: Oh, we will.

Harry: After that loss, Turf War is the only I care about now.

James: Okay, don't JUST work on Turf War. I want you guys to have fun while I'm gone.

Harry: Alright, got ya.

James: Well, it seems I have to go now. See you guys later!

The guys: Bye!

Then James left the house through the front door with his luggage and closed the door behind him.

That's it. He left the house he was staying in with his friends and is now temporarily living in the Squidbeak Splatoon HQ at the Octo Canyon. Life is going to be different, for sure, but this is the only right thing to do for James. What's next for him? Find out next time on Hero's Charge!
