Chapter 16: Agent 8

Last time on Hero's Charge...

Cap'n Cuttlefish and Agent 3 are back! To Marie's and James' surprise, they brought back a possible new agent, an Octoling. According to Cuttlefish, this octoling, known as Agent 8, may have the skills to be part of the Squidbeak Splatoon.

It's morning, again, and James had driven from his house in Inkopolis to Squidbeak HQ, again. Jeez, this is getting repetitive.

It's the day after Cuttlefish and Kath arrived back with the octoling, and today is the day where she may be appointed as Squidbeak Splatoon's newest agent.

*knock knock*

James was at the front door of Squidbeak HQ, ready for anything.

*click*

Marie: Ah, Agent 4. Come in.

James: Ever get that feeling of déjà vu? *he muttered*

Marie: What?

James: Uh, nothing.

Marie: Anyway... *she closed the door behind her* The other three are asleep. They're very tired after their long journey... whatever it was.

James: Okay.

Marie: I'm not sure if you know yet, but today might be the day Rosie officially becomes an agent of the Squidbeak Splatoon.

James: Oh! Really?

Marie: Yeah, gramps told me all about her and how she helped them get out of the... what was it called?

She thought for a moment, completely forgetting what Cuttlefish told her

Marie: That's right. It was some weird place called the 'Deepsea Metro'.

James: 'Metro'? You mean it was some sort of train station?

Marie: Actually, yeah. They travelled on a train everywhere.

James: Wow. I don't know if that's really cool or really weird.

Marie: Well, let's not talk about it now. We have some more important matters to discuss.

James: Oh yeah? Like what?

Marie: Well, today is the third day in a row that you've been at the HQ, and it's also the second day in a row that you drove here from your house.

James: (I don't like where this is going)

Marie: I know you're sick of me telling you this, but life would be so much easier if you lived here. You won't have to travel here every day like you have for the past two days. As an agent of the Squidbeak Splatoon, it is vital for you to live here. Are you sure you want to stay with your friends?

James was silent. Now that Kath and Cuttlefish are back, along with a new agent, it only makes sense for him to move to living in the Squidbeak HQ. But what about his friends, he thought.

James: You're absolutely right, Marie. I should be staying here, but I can't just do that to my friends, can't I? Listen, I'll have a chat to them later, and maybe I'll be able to stay here. However, I can't make that a promise.

Marie: Well, at least you're going to do something about it. I'm glad tha-

Kath: Goooood moooorning everyone!

Marie was cut off by Kath entering the living room from her bedroom. She had just woken up and decided to walk out in her pyjamas as she heard Marie and James talking.

Marie: Morning, Kath.

James: Hey, Kath.

Kath: Great to see our little agent 4 here has made it. Honestly, these nights are going to be lonely without you. *she winked at James*
