-After the fight with James at District 2-
Krystal: Ugh, how did I let him slip past my fingers? I knew I should have killed him when I had the chance!
Krystal was on a helicopter, getting a ride back into the octo base. A few minutes earlier, she was having a huge fight with James, and James managed to escape District 2 by distracting Krystal. She sounded furious talking to herself. The helicopter pilot heard her but stayed silent.
Pilot: ...
Krystal: Are you gonna say anything, bucko?
The octoling pilot was startled by Krystal's words. I guess she's taking this out on them now?
Pilot: Oh! Um...
Krystal: Go on. I don't have all day.
Pilot: You gave it your best shot, Krystal, but the inkling knew how to manage that situation. Don't be mad with yourself. Heck, don't even be mad at the inkling. Squit just happens, and you gotta accept that.
Krystal paused. Never before has she agreed with someone that isn't as powerful as her. The pilot was right, she was being a little too mad at herself rather than the situation.
Krystal: You're right. I guess squit does just happen, huh?
The pilot froze. The lead commander, Krystal Fox has calmed down, and it was because of what he said?
Pilot: Y-yeah. We just gotta move on.
Krystal: We have 3 more districts left. We can take him out then.
Pilot: Sounds good.
Krystal: Thanks, man. I really appreciated that.
Pilot: Oh- uh... *his face turned red* y-you're welcome.
Despite this conversation with the pilot, something else was on Krystal's mind. Krystal still actually liked James despite them being enemies. She was only talking that way because she didn't want the pilot to get suspicious.
Krystal: (I can't wait until I see that dude again)
Soon later, she arrived back at the octo base, and she was nervous. How is the boss going to react to her failing to take James out? There's no way the boss is going to punish her, right?
*beep*
Just as the helicopter landed, Krystal heard a beep from her communicator. It was from General Callie.
Krystal: (Oh no)
Her legs trembled at the thought of General Callie getting mad at her for not doing her job right. It scared her. She's usually very powerful and never scared of anything or anyone, but this situation was different. Someone was in charge of her.
She made her way up to Callie's office. She was sweating bullets, her legs shaking, and her arms felt heavy.
She opened Callie's door.
Callie: Hey, bestie! Come on in!
Krystal: O-okay...
Callie: Let's have a chat about this inkling, huh?
Krystal: Y-yeah, we should...
Callie: Jeez, that guy is strong! He took out so many of our octolings and octarians! Not even they can stop him!
Krystal: I know, it's crazy.
Callie: That's why we sent you in. Other than the supreme leader, you're our most powerful soldier out of all of us! And he snuck right by you!
Krystal: He's just that powerful, general.
Callie: Call me Callie.
Krystal: Right, Callie. As I said, he's a skilled individual, and he's kinda hot too...
