"Uhhhhhh, so yeah." Tetra had gotten finished explaining the plan to get me into the fortress.

I stared in shock and almost went limp.

"You're launching me," I pointed to a barrel, "in that?!"

"I'm sorry—not—to admit that, yes, indeed, you are going to have your first time being in a near-death experience. You kind of deserve it, though." Tetra said with a puff out her nose.

"A-A WHAT?" I yelled. A near-death experience?! I'm only thirteen, just today! I don't need that! No way I'm doing that! I'll swim, thanks!

"And I know what you're thinking, Link, just by looking at you, with that body strength, you're not swimming anywhere." Tetra pointed her sword up and down my arms, "Heck, even I'm stronger than that."

"And now you're criticizing me-" I began to think aloud before realizing I was speaking.

"Oh I see how it is. You're going to point me out at pointing you out." Tetra repeated, "And what other smart comment do you have to make before I actually load this pistol?"

I gulped with fear as she held up a bullet.

"I-I didn't mean to- ....... I- Didn't mean it like that!" I exclaimed, pausing between stutters.

"I would love to believe you, Link. Anyway, you're getting in this barrel." Tetra told me, pointing to the barrel on a catapult.

I refused respectfully, calmly stepping back with a slight shake of my head, keeping my hands over my belly.

"Alright then." Tetra gave a sly smile, "Gonzo! Come and put him in the barrel!"

"Yes, Miss!" Gonzo quickly ran over and picked me up.

"Hey! Hey, put me down! PUT ME DOWN!" I yelled, frustrated, "STOP IT! PUT ME DOWN!"

"Nope." Tetra said as Gonzo set me in the barrel.

I felt my stomach flip as they laughed at me.

"Don't worry, kid! We're pros, so don't worry about it!" Gonzo exclaimed with a chuckle, "Alright, get ready."

I started to feel extra nauseous and squirmed around in the barrel.

"3..."

I stopped struggling and stared forward, hoping this wasn't something I'd die from.

"2..."

Oh, I definitely got this!

"1..."

Wait! Hold on, no I don't! I don't got it! I don't know what I'm doing! "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" I screamed as I flew through the air.

"That should've done it, landing on his head like that. It must've killed him." I about heard Tetra say in my head as I slammed into the wall, "Finally, I've gotten him off my back."

I was knocked unconscious, and the next thing I knew was that I was sinking underwater.

Without any air.

I choked on the water around me as it flooded my nose and mouth.

I swam upward the fastest I could to try and reach the surface.

Everything was getting difficult...But wait.

My left hand! It's out of the water! I can survive!

I made one last strong push with my legs and came up out of the water.

Gasping for air, I made my way slowly to shore—A small stone ledge attached to some stairs leading to the rest of this fortress.

I hauled myself onto my belly, laying on the cold stone while still trying to get my breathing back to normal.

"Link! Link! Answer me, please! You're not dead, right?! Oh shoot! Gonzo! What did I do?! WHAT DID I DO?!" I heard Tetra yelling behind me. But she was so far away, there's no possibility I could hear her this loudly.

I heard a loud crash and Tetra's screaming, "WHAT THE HECK DID I DO?! ...I didn't kill him, did I?" She said the last part slow and with what sounded like a sob, "...I actually felt a bit of care for Link..."

As I breathed in, I choked on some water and coughed. I heard a gasp for behind me.

"Link? Link?! Was that you?!" Tetra yelled with a slight sniffle.

I grunted as I pushed myself up, making sure Tetra knew I was alive.

"You're...alive?"

I coughed and spit onto the ground and heard an excited laugh from Tetra while shouting for Gonzo to come.

"What is it? Is he dead? I don't think he could have survived that, Miss." Gonzo said, stating his opinion.

"No, but listen! Listen! He's alive! Link, do something again for Gonzo!" Tetra exclaimed, reminding me of Aryll.

See, whenever I felt sick, Aryll always made sure that if I was asleep all day, to make sure I made a little noise every now and then—To make sure I was okay.

I sighed with a small cough for Tetra.

I felt bad.

Though I don't believe she has a bit of care for me. I had the same for her, but it wasn't a care I like expressing, even though I'm very expressive through facial expressions.

"...N-No way..." Gonzo muttered in shock.

"I told you! He's alive! Isn't that amazing?!" Tetra exclaimed, then clearing her throat to give me directions, "Alright, Link. You're going to have to sneak past all those spotlights. Use whatever needed to get to the top."

"I-I will, Captain..." I coughed again.

"On second thought, you may call me Tetra. But you're lucky. If you hadn't survived something crazy like what just happened, you wouldn't get that." She went back to her regular self.

Personally, I like her regular self.

It's...

It makes her...

...

. . .

"Link! Did you start yet? Get to it, hurry up! We're waiting out here for you!"

"Sorry! I'm sorry! I was thinking!" I blurted out, feeling my face turn bright red.

I about saw Tetra in my head when we had first met just earlier today.

She...
Hated me.

And I...
Hated her.

Now,

We both...

We both have a bit of care for one another.

"Did you pass out again, Link?! Get a move on, let's go! I can't wait all night! I have errands to run at Windfall! Hurry it up, kid!"

I pushed myself up to my knees and stood up from there.

This sucks already. This is terrible, to say the least.

Well, I have to sneak all the way up to there.

I just need my sword and-

WHAT?!

WHERE DID MY SWORD GO?!

It better not have sunken. Because if it did, I'm not getting it back.
