I sat and stared into the floor for at least an hour, only blinking when need be. I wanted to take a break. A break from this adventure. A break from Sky, a break from Spirit and Jacky.
But I would be alone without Tetra. I don't like being alone.
I would be scared. Terrified, anxious. Depressed.
A hand waved in front of my eyes.
A whistle followed. I looked up.
"'Ey!" Jacky yelled, "Okay?"
"Huh?" I asked.
"O-Kay? You know, the phrase for 'got it?'"
"What did you say?" I asked again, "I didn't hear you, sorry."
"Are. You. Feeling. Okay. Or. Are. You. Not. O. Kay?"
"Uh...Maybe?"
"Link." Tetra said, "Hey, I'm- Really sorry for what I did. That's all. Also, feelin' okay?"
"Yeah, I'm...fine. I guess." I mumbled.
"Oh, so you understand her- AAAAA! LINK!" Jacky stared at me, her cheeks and ears red, pupils as tiny as little raisins.
"Hey, hey! Jack! No!" Spirit called.
"He's annoying! Hey, Tet, how'd'ya live with a guy like him?! And you even said you love him!"
Tetra began to glow, her ears perked up and her cheeks a soft red color.
"I-I didn't say that, you idiot! I said I like him! He's too weird for me." Tetra crossed her arms as she forced herself to look calmer, making her ears fall.
"Mmmhmmmmmmm..." Jacky nodded slowly.
"It's just the career path! You idiotic train engineers or whatever are all screwed up in the head!"
"Hey! I love my job!" Jacky yelled.
"I didn't know iron tasted good." Spirit said, off somewhere where I couldn't see him.
"See? It's just the job." Tetra said again, raising an eyebrow with a nod.
Jacky facepalmed and sighed whilst shaking her head. "He doesn't usually act like this... What did you guys feed him?! You hurt my cinnamon roll, you die, got it?"
"We actually didn't feed him anything. Mainly some soups...hmmmm...meats. Nothing weird."
Jacky squinted at Tetra, then checked her up and down.
Then she ran off to get Spirit.
She ran back with him in her arms like she was carrying the princess long-lost. It looked really funny, actually. He was holding onto his hat and a little thing in his hand.
I couldn't quite see what it was.
It flicked the light from the sun into Tetra's eyes.
"Agh! Hey!! Watch where you point that thing! It's shining- Oooh. Hold on, I wanna see whatcha got there." Tetra said, starting off yelling, then realizing it was shiny, and immediately wanting it.
"A few- Hey, wait! You want to steal them, don't you! You pirate!" Spirit tucked them into the pocket on his chest.
"Thanks. It's my job."
"Wait...You're a pirate?" Jacky asked, "Hold on, that's actually so cool!"
"Jack-" Spirit began.
"Are you like the scary pirates? Or are you the boring tax pirates...?"
