Usually in French weddings there are no maid of honor or the best man. Instead, the bride-groom choose witnesses who will be present at the wedding.

But of course, Han being Han wanted to have at least one experience of how English weddings were done. Not to mention the fact that me and Julian were the only closest friends they had.

And due to this, the responsibility of the bachelor/bachelorette party was on both of us. Unlike normal English weddings, the bachelor party of both; the bride and groom take place together generally either by going at a cottage or something similar to that for the weekend.

The French don't have wedding cakes too. Well, at least not the way we see. Instead, they have what is called a croquembouche. Or in our language Amuse-bouche. It's generally a large pyramid style pastry made of macaroons or some other French patisserie.

And for the same reason I was standing near the cash counter at Han's bakery waiting for her to be done with her work so that we all- me, Han and Blake- could go for the macaroon tasting.

"Merci d'être venu! Bonne journée à venir !"

Thankyou for coming! Have a great day ahead!

Hannah's voice rang in my ears and I came back to reality.

"Lil can you turnover the open sign?"

I nodded and walked towards the entrance when her chirpy voice replied, "Merci!"

I winced and spun towards her, pointing a finger at my head, "Can you tone it down? I told you I'm having a headache."

She packed up her stuff giving me a sheepish look, "Oops, sorry I forgot. I told you not to come today but would you listen?"

"I don't want to miss out on the opportunity of having free macrons, Han." I gave her an outraged expression before turning once more to turnover the open sign to close.

"You and your love for desserts," I heard her muttering and chuckled a bit. Just then I saw Blake arriving in his BMW and honking twice to indicate his arrival.

"Surgeon!" I smiled sweetly at Blake knowing how much he hated it when I called him that, once we got seated- Han at the passenger seat in the front and me behind.

"Hey love," Blake whispered to Han before she kissed him.

"Wow, no greeting for your one true love huh?" I playfully glared at him through the rearview mirror once he started the car.

"You know no matter how much I love my job; I despise that term." He replied just before taking a left turn.

I stuck my tongue out at him.

"You're such a hypocrite, Surgeon. You literally do the same thing to me once teamed up with your bestie."

"Speaking of Julian, I don't think he'll like it once he knows that we went to Macaroon tasting without him," Hannah said.

I didn't pay any mind to Blake's reply because an alarm went off in my mobile and I remembered it was time for my medicines.

"Guys, can you pass me the water?" I interrupted them.

"Oui," Han said passing me the bottle when I saw Blake frowning in the rearview mirror.

"We should've been done with the tasting last week only."

"Not again, Blake. I told you I couldn't leave the bakery last week. I had a lot of orders to make plus you know how much I'm work persistent. It's a miracle I did half day today."

I stopped tuning in their conversation, suddenly feeling very awkward but fortunately I had to take my medicines so I took my sweet time in taking them out of my purse and swallowing them.

"We couldn't do it yesterday too. Lilly had a doctor's appointment."

I looked up at their expecting faces once I realized Blake had asked me a question.

"Pardon, what?" I frowned.

"I asked what happened? Why did you go to a doctor yesterday?"

My eyebrows raised and I started searching for a lie to tell, "I- it was just a health checkup to ensure I was fine because I fell ill last week."

I lowered my gaze and started fiddling with the container of my pills once I saw Blake giving me a skeptical look.

"Oh, how can I forget? How Julian took care of you." Hannah wiggled her eyebrows at the end of the sentence and Blake snorted.

"Seriously, everyone can see how much you two are meant for each other. Why waste time?"

"Can we drop it? It's not that easy." I replied to them, suddenly feeling very irritated because they didn't know how it felt to carry a secret enough to break more than one heart.
