"God you're looking so hot, Han. Blake will definitely faint once he'll see you walking down the aisle in that."
We- me and Han- were in a boutique called Clair de Lune. I had already found my dress of a rich shade of lavender which I'd loved since the minute I set my eyes on it.
And right now, Han was wearing a white dress which had a corset kind of upper part with off-shoulders flowing sleeves, leaving the rest of the gown to bellow.
"And Julian will faint once he'll see you." Her reflection in the mirror winked at me and I glared at her.
It's been a few weeks since I slept at Julian's place and things between us had been a bit . . .weird since then. Feelings which I didn't want to be a part of for a second time were reigniting. Again.
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
Hannah spun around, "C'mon Lilly, we both know what's happening."
I shook my head, "I do not like Julian."
She crossed her arms across her chest, "Sure, just the way you didn't like him in college. Right?"
I sucked in a breath, "I thought we agreed to never talk about that in the future?"
I raised my fist to knock on Julian and Blake's dorm when I heard Blake mentioning my name.
"Okay, but seriously do you have feelings for Lilly or not?"
I heard Julian snort, "Ew what? Lilly? I'd rather date Medusa. I mean have you looked what she did to her hair? The reason I call her noodle? And it looks like she's still in puberty even though we're in second year of college now."
Tears welled up my eyes and I pressed my lips in a thin line to avoid a sob to escape. Here I was, living in my fantasy hoping maybe he liked me too and this is what in reality he saw me as.
I scoffed lightly.
"That was harsh, Julian. You went through puberty too so don't even think about it. And her personality is what matters the most. Don't ever talk about her like this. Especially if she's in a hearing distance."
Oh, but I already heard Blake.
I didn't talk to him for months after that. Eventually, I got over it and finally got my 'glow-up' and we eventually reconciled. But till this day, he had no idea that I heard him.
"I know you're scared, Lilly. But till when will this go on? You hardly have dated someone."
I avoided eye contact with her, "I've been with two other guys, Han."
She tilted her head at one side, "Yeah for two weeks at most."
I smothered a laugh at that and shrugged when Han glared at me, "You've to agree it was funny."
The look on her face was so tender as if I were a China doll ready to break at any moment.
"I just want you to be happy, Lil. I want you to feel what love feels like and the ride of roller coaster that comes with it."
I nodded and smiled softly towards her, "I know, Han. I know."
She came towards me and we hugged for a while.
I could not be with Julian. It doesn't matter that we were not in college anymore. It doesn't matter that we were more matured. It doesn't matter that he had what books would call a 'character development'.
Because this time . . . I wouldn't be there after a while.
