Chapter 27: 'Do you want this?'

Usually, at every gala we attended for our company in the past, Julian and I tried to make it more fun for ourselves. And by more fun I meant a series of games (sort of) we created to entertain us. Our most frequently played one was to yawn as many times as possible while talking to another people just to see if they'd yawn or not. It initially started of as to test the theory whether yawning is contagious or not which I distinctively remember we betted on for forty euros.

Our second most frequently played game was when we'd pretended to tell the other person something which we weren't supposed to no matter how little that thing was and to observe by the end of the event how that one little fact slipped out of us had turned into a hilarious rumour.

The best one was when Julian told someone that our boss had to go to his house through the woods because that path was shorter to reach his house at that time. And by the end of the night, the fact was twisted into that our boss was homeless and lived in the woods and stole clothes to come to office every day.

Julian and I had laughed for an eternity that night.

But tonight was different.

After getting our pictures clicked, we met several people, both new and old. Tonight, our minds were far from the games rather the only thing they were focused on was each other.

When together, our conversations were going on with other people but our hands subtly made their way and touched each other. Sometimes our fingers brushed, sometimes his rough calloused hand gilded across my back making me shiver, sometimes my hand went dangerously near his abs when my arm was around his waist.

And every time heat rose on our cheeks before our eyes met and we quickly looked away.

Right now, I could feel Julian's eyes on me while I talked to Mr. Adams about our project we did a few weeks ago.

"C'était vraiment génial de travailler avec vous. J'espère que nous pourrons la même chose dans le futur."

It was really great working with you. I hope for the same sometime in the future.

I gave the old man a smile which I had reserved for work only, "Merci beaucoup M. Adams, ce fut un honneur de travailler avec vous."

Thank-you so much Mr. Adams, it was an honour working with you.

No matter how much it annoyed me when he changed our final plans, the forty something man was creative and wise which helped him become successful in his career and I respected that.

Soon he was called by some other colleagues and we bid our good-byes. I took a glass of champagne from the waiter who just walked before me and drank it in one go. I didn't usually drink anything else other than wine but it wasn't available here and I needed something to loosen my tensed muscles.

I was on my second glass when the violinists who were hired (because the theme of the gala was vintage) started playing. Not long after, the people also mingled to dance while the rest walked around the perimeter of the vast room.

I noticed Julian excusing from others and making his way towards me once I finished my second glass.

He presented a hand to me, "Will you dance?"

A crooked smile formed on my face and placed my hand in his, "Of course."

But instead of joining others, he took me to an empty narrow hallway outside of the room where others were still dancing and the faint tune of violins playing followed us.

Fake flowers dangled from the roof above us and light in the form of street lamps shone on the walls. My heels clicked against the patterned floor when I realized we were going to dance here.

A surprised giggle came from me and I ran a few feet ahead of Julian glancing back to see the tail of my dress gliding across the floor before my gaze flicked back to his smiling face.

"So, this is where we are going to dance hmm?" I asked suddenly feeling relaxed and looked up at him once he reached me.

"Hmm," He laced our fingers together and firmly grabbed my other hand as we began to waltz on the very faint tune. Spinning and circles and shuffling our feet to the slow, rhythmic music. It was paradise, but even more so when our eyes met.

We both were drunk but not wasted kind of. Instead, we were relaxed but sober enough to not make any regrettable choices.

Julian leaned down to kiss me; just a peck. That peck was enough to take away my breath.

He pulled his face away from mine and the music changed. Our paces quickened, and it was hard to keep up with his quick, flowing steps. My dress was getting in the way and my heels made my steps clumsy causing a laugh out of us.

Suddenly, the music changed its pace again, this time a very slow and relaxing tune. His arms tightened around me and I rose on my tip-toes when he leaned down once again before we met halfway for a kiss.

"Should we leave?" He breathed against my lips and our foreheads remained close together.

"Yes," I muttered and soon we were leaving the hall, the banquet, the gala altogether.

The ride to my apartment was a blur. All I remembered was us singing lyrics on top of our lungs in the car and soon we were entering my apartment.

I spun around the minute I heard Julian shutting and locking the apartment door. We walked closer stopping only when our bodies pressed against each other and our lips met for the third time that night.

His lips were warm and soft. They parted slightly, allowing my tongue to slip inside. My arms hung around his shoulders loosely when he started pressing butterfly kisses down from my neck to chest.

I felt overheated and out of control.

He stopped abruptly, causing me to frown slightly but he cupped my face, "Do you want this? Is this okay?"

Warmth blossomed in my chest before I nodded with a small 'yes', sparks igniting as Julian leaned in close once more, our lips brushing together. The smell of his cologne was dizzying, causing butterflies to dance in my stomach. But warmth consumed me soon as I leaned into the kiss, Julian's lips impossibly soft against my own.

Not long after, we were stumbling towards my room together.

Our bodies pressed together heatedly, breathing heavily as our lips pressed together again and again. I could taste our shared breath, feel the thud of our combined heartbeat as we fumbled to take off one another's clothes after he practically threw me on the bed and removed my heels.

As I said earlier, the night was still young.
