Our next stop was La Turbie, also called 'The Terrace of Monaco' due to its panoramic views of the Principality of Monaco. We went to see the Trophy of Alps, a roman monument built in 7 BC and explored Monaco, known as 'The Rock' for its location on a rocky headland.
En route to Cannes, the next place we went was the city of Antibes where Picasso once lived. We explored the old quarters which evoked the spirit of the Middle Ages, and admired the gleaming white yachts of the harbour.
Last but not the least, we returned to the village of Saint- Paul- De- Vence through the Royal Gates. After wandering in the streets and loosing ourselves in the beauty of the city, we finally returned to our hotel after an eight- hour tour.
Oh, and Julian ignored me the whole day and instead spent the entire time flirting with Hannah's cousins. Totally cool.
After a few hours from having dinner, we all decided to go by the pool to relax the day's exhaustion. I wore an orange bikini with denim shorts and a white cover up feeling disgusted when guys ogled me the entire time while I made my way outside.
"Hey guys."
Everyone greeted me back -except Julian of course- once I sat on the patio lounger and suddenly felt very annoyed at the fact that he was ignoring me because I talked to another guy even though we weren't even together.
I sighed when a very drunk Hannah sat beside me.
"Hey bitch," she hung an arm around my shoulders and kissed my cheek.
An unexpected laugh came from me and I hugged her tight, "It's been ages since we last talked properly."
"I know right? Firstly, I cannot tell you how much I love you and Julian. This whole trip- I have no words to express how much thankful I am." She looked like she was just a second away from crying.
"Aww I love you too."
Hannah raised a finger pointing it at me, "Secondly, I know you're hiding something from us Lilly. I can see it in your eyes. These past few weeks you've had a hooded look haunting your eyes. And maybe," she hiccupped and slurred her next words, "it's the same reason you've not confessed your feelings for Julian yet."
I didn't hear what she said next because dread pooled in my stomach and my heart pounded with an erratic beat. I gulped audibly and sweat formed on my forehead.
I took two deep breaths before calling out Blake, "Take your wife to your room she's super drunk."
"C'mon babe let's get some sleep." Blake carried a giggling Han in his arms towards the hotel.
I took one last deep breath and mentally chanted She doesn't know yet. It's okay. She doesn't know yet. It's okay-
"Are you okay?"
I looked up to see Julian standing before me with a concerned look and instantly put on the mask of a cold expression.
"I'm fine, goodnight." I replied in a tight tone and stood up to leave the pool area altogether.
Halfway towards the entrance, I heard Julian calling me but didn't pause to turn. Instead, I kept walking and pretended as though I couldn't hear him.
Just when the elevator doors were about to close a hand shot up in between and a panting Julian entered. He placed his hands on his knees and tried to breathe in short gasps.
I refused to give him the satisfaction that I was concerned and kept my gaze in front of me, staring at nothing.
Julian pressed the stop button of the elevator and I looked at him outraged, ready to say something cold but he beat me to it.
"I'm sorry."
I scoffed, "Why bother? Go keep others company."
He shut his eyes for a moment before cupping my face in both hands. His breath fanned my cheek and I tried to move away from him but he kept his hold tight.
"I shouldn't have been a dick to you all day. I'm sorry Noodle."
"No, you shouldn't have especially because we aren't even together."
He pressed his forehead on mine, "But we should be."
My heart stopped beating.
"Till when will we continue this Noodle? We've known each other for fifteen years and after all this time I can read you like an open book. We both know there's something between us but till when will we deny it Lilly?"
