Chapter 16: 'You're acting like a brat aren't you babe?'

"Pay up bitch!" Lilly's voice rang across the entrance of the hotel where a lion fountain was situated and water splayed out of its mouth.

Julian's jaw tightened once he saw Hannah and Arthur bent against the fountain slap, their hands roaming across the under-surface made of marble to search for any letter stuck on it while he painfully gave five bucks to Lilly.

Hannah found the small letter finally and removed it hastily from the surface. Arthur came towards her once he saw the clue and straightened his glasses across his nose.

"This what the clue says:

I am filled up, however never go down

Spend a day with me and you won't frown.

Sometimes I'm cold, other times I'm not so bad

When you jump out of me, you won't be glad.

And there's also this key attached to it."

Hannah frowned at the golden tiny key before those two started sharing theories what it could possibly mean. Meanwhile, Emma and Lucas rushed towards the fountain when Emma exclaimed, "I told you it'd be the fountain! But no, you went towards the water cooler near the bar!"

"Okay, fine I'm so sorry Wise Ole Sage." Lucas said although his tone was far from regret.

Emma glared at him before they started searching for the letter. Not long after, Blake and Caroline joined the search with Manon and Charles.

Suddenly Emma bellowed, "I figured it out!"

Lucas and her started bickering while they made their way towards wherever Emma thought was the next clue. Trying to not get caught, Blake motioned towards her partner to follow the former pair when Lilly and Julian were concentrated on their own bets. Little did they know, the hotel staff was present there for this only and they fully noticed everything.

Halfway towards the pool, a staff member abruptly came and stood before Blake before he started blowing the whistle hung around his neck.

"Wha-" Lilly and Julian cut off Blake by singing around him, "You disqualified shawty, you disqualified,"

"We've got our first disqualifier, ladies and gentleman. You thought you'd follow Emma and Lucas without consequences hmm?" Lilly wiggled her eyebrows at him.

"Now here you go," Julian took a garland of flowers from another staff member Blake hadn't noticed and hung it around his neck like a necklace.

The garland had a piece of paper in the middle with the word 'LOSER' written across it, large enough to be noticeable.

"How do you guys even get such ideas?!" Blake looked at them with wide eyes.

"A magician never tells their secrets, Noodle." Lilly and Julian said at the same before exclaiming, "Jinx!"

"Oh my God, this is so creepy get me out of here!" Blake ran opposite from them and saw Han who was laughing her ass off, recording the entire thing.

"You're acting like a brat aren't you babe? Wait till tonight-" Blake said to Han once he reached her but didn't notice Lilly and Julian who were gagging behind them after hearing Blake's dirty talk.

"Get me out of here, TMI." They made their way towards the pool where Lucas was standing in his boxers only ready to take a dive.

"Dang, they're smart." Julian murmured once Lucas jumped into the pool.

Lucas swam towards the other end when he noticed four little metal boxes deep within the water. He came up and spoke loudly to Emma, "Give me the key!"

Emma threw the golden key at him which he caught perfectly before going underwater once again. When he reached a box, he saw a little lock on it and started opening it with the key as fast as possible because his lungs were burning due to lack of oxygen.

The box unlocked and the redhead took out the plastic bag from inside. Then he made his way up again and started to breathe in small pants once he reached the end of the pool. Emma went towards him with a concerned look, "Are you okay?"

But Lucas just nodded and gave her the plastic bag in which another envelope was there.

Emma gave him a quick smile before she opened the bag and the letter, reading out loud the next clue:

"I'm where every girl's true love is."

"What?" Lucas wheezed and just then Manon-Charles came towards the pool, noticing the former pair which confirmed their suspicions that the next clue was in the pool only.

"You should get out. Come on," Emma gave him a helping hand which Lucas took gratefully and the pair made their way towards the patio lounger.

Ten minutes later, Manon and Charles went through the same procedure but instead made their way inside.

"I think I know what this is," Lilly heard Charles muttering to Manon and followed them inside.

Five minutes later, Lilly and Julian had no words other than that their children were so smart because Manon and Charles stood in the buffet area where they usually had their meals.

"What does a girl love the most?" Charles smirked at Manon who blushed.

"Food." Charles clicked his tongue at her answer and they noticed four small tables with four plates atop it piled up with fortune cookies like a mountain.

The pair made their way towards one table and started eating- breaking- the cookies to see if there was a hint inside it.

Lilly was so impressed by them that she didn't notice Blake making his way slyly behind her, "Boo!"

She startled and screamed before smacking Blake on the head who laughed.

"How are you feeling now Noodle?" Blake wrapped a hand around Lilly's shoulder and she sagged against him.

"I'm better now. Thanks for last night Surgeon," she looked up at him and gave a gentle smile.

"No problem. Though I couldn't help but notice a few bruises here and there on your arms and legs last night." He glanced sideways towards her who became very still in his embrace.

"And I also couldn't help but notice a few different sorts of medications on your nightstand. Not to mention that those were the same ones you took the day after your health check-up when we went to macaroon tasting."

Lilly's heart was beating loudly and was surprised as to why Blake couldn't hear it yet.

"I'm a surgeon but don't forget I studied science overall to become that." He raised an eyebrow at her, "Is this what I think it is?"

But she stood frozen.

"And this is why you're afraid to get a relationship with him?" Blake motioned towards Julian who was entertaining Manon and Charles with his antics.

"Please tell me it's not what I think it is." Blake gave Lilly a pleading look and she took a sharp breath before deciding that she couldn't hide it anymore from him. It'd be best to not lie when he already knew.

Her lip quivered and she shook her head, "I can't because it's true. I've cancer."
