"Why don't we... Just run away ?."
It's been a few days since she suggested that proposal.
She thought that her little sister would decline the offer and turn her back on her as if their conversation never happened. But to her surprise, her sister had agreed to it.
*flashback
Maybe because of her suggestion, that night, her sister immediately broke down and cried again. Thankfully the guards for her prison aren't nocturnal creatures, that's why the security are pretty lax in the night. If not, then one would surely feel heart wrenching anguish as they hear the cries of a little girl who finally let out all of her pent up frustration.
"Sister... Hiks, r-running away... Am I allowed to do that ?."
"With you nonetheless... I I really want to get out of here. I-i, in truth I really really dislike this house, sister."
"Father and mother never looked at me in the eyes with warmth. They would only look at our brothers with hope. The servants told me that they care about me.. And yet I knew that, behind my back, they mocked my disability of not being able to live under the sun."
"W-whenever I wish for something I truly want, everyone had already picked what they want me to choose, and dismiss my opinions. As if I'm just a puppet doll. A pretty doll... That they could command and play with."
"All I ever wanted was to have the happiness of a loved princess in the fairytale books that I've read. But... What can a snake without warmth can do?."
"Without the warmth that we need, a reptile will slowly die and our cold blood will consume our bodies."
The surprising mental breakdown of the little girl at the time, was like a hit of a conscience on her heart. Her words, her actions, her cries... It was the real her. The real Shé Baihua, not the 'pitiful yet lovable princess of the Shé family'.
So this was her true thoughts. She was wrong about this child being ignorant and innocent. She should have known better that there's no such thing as absolute purity in this household. In fact, even though this child may have been a snake demon, she had what we call as humanity. She has her own feelings, thoughts, wants, etc. She's just another person who's stuck inside this hellhole. A little girl who wanted to be truly loved by her family.
Ah... She made her remember about how powerless she was when she was little. Seeing her like this, made her feel... A certain way.
Annoyed.
"...... "
"Then, so what?."
"What I ask of you, is to help me get out of here, and run away together."
"What's that got to do with your feelings or their acceptance towards you?. I don't give a damn about any of that."
"I maybe am your sister, but we're only related by blood. We do not share the same looks, experience, treatment, nor the same feelings. In fact, I had loathed your existence ever since you were born."
The young girl looked at her big sister's face as she had a realization of what she had said. She knew how her sister felt about her a long time ago. But time and time again, she kept approaching her big sister, wanting to get closer. And now, even if her words are harsh and cold, she still likes her big sister even if her sister hated her.
Because her big sister was the only one who will tell her what she needs to hear, the only one who's truly not restricted from a heavy set of rules aside from being imprisoned. The only one who wears her heart on her sleeve, at least when she's around.
