------------Percy's POV:-------------
"Alright, in and out. In and out" I mumbled to myself, rubbing my head as I looked at the layout of the museum. I hadn't slept in two days and usually that wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that I had immense amounts of pressure being laid on my shoulders as I thought of all the children I needed to help.
I sighed as I sat back in my chair, the morning light burning my eyes but I was too tired to care. The blueprints of the building were illuminated in an orange and yellow light, making the blue lines stick out further. From what I could tell there were many openings I could get through but with the 7 and the yj team on the prowl I had to know if this truly was the safest option. I don't want to destroy things unnecessarily as the owners of the business were honest people, people who didn't deserve to be robbed, which was why I was going to leave behind an extra greek sword I had. From what I could tell it was about the same value since it was in pristine condition.
I decided I'd get in through the vents. A vent landed right above the glass the diamond was supposed to be kept in. It would allow me to get by the security alarms and by the time the alarms go off I'd be a safe distance away. It was a seamless crime.
And yet something felt off. I couldn't quite place what it was but something felt wrong, almost like something was destined to fail.
I didn't have time to think about this as I heard a knock on the door. Immediately my eyes opened wide as I quietly rolled the paper up, bundling it into a clean cylinder before getting on top of my table and placing it on top of my window, luckily it seemed to be obscured from view by the tips of the curtains.
"Percy? You awake?" Wally called out from behind the door, his voice sounding slightly concerned. I felt panic lace through me slightly as I turned to the door. I didn't have time to check everything so I silently prayed that everything suspicious was out of view.
Apparently the sleep deprivation was getting to me more than I thought though because as I got off the table I tripped on my carpet, stumbling forwards and running into the couch, groaning as a new pain sprung through me.
"Is everything okay in there? Do I need to come in?" Wally asked, his voice now fully concerned.
"No no! I'm okay, just a bit of a tumble!" I called back, taking a deep breath as I tried to ignore the blooming pain on my waist. I quickly collected myself, unlocking the door before opening it. I found Wally with a concerned look on his face, casual clothes, and his hands in his pockets.
I tried my best to give him a smile but I'm sure it came off more disingenuous than intended. This didn't seem to stop him from grabbing my shoulders, looking me over quickly.
"Percy, God, what happened? You look like you were hit by a train!" I couldn't stop the small smirk on my face from growing.
"Wow, you sure know how to woo a girl huh?" I said, blinking my eyes a couple times to stay awake.
"Percy I'm serious, are you okay?" I lowered my smile a bit as I nodded.
"Yeah I'm all good. I just pulled a couple of all nighters. It's no biggie." Wally pursed his lips, looking up into my apartment and surely spotting the bowls of cereal that I'd collected on the table. He quickly let out a small sigh.
"You need sleep. You-"
"No" I said quickly, shaking my head both to emphasize my point and in an attempt to get my blood pumping. "I'm good, seriously. I need to be awake. I have a very important meeting at my new job tonight, it has important info that I need."
"Percy, you actually have to be awake to hear and understand that information. Seriously, you should sleep." I let out a small puff of air at his persistence and at the fact that it was actually starting to work on my hazy brain.
"What did you need?" I asked, looking up to him quickly as I tried to open my eyes wide.
"What do you mean?" He asked quietly a bit of hurt crawling into his voice.
I let out a small sigh. "Not like that, I just mean that you obviously came here for something. I don't mean to sound so rough." I replied, rubbing my forehead slightly.
"Well I did come to ask if you'd like to go out to eat but it seems you got the eating part down," He said sarcastically, looking back into my apartment, and I'm sure, focusing on my table. I'd much rather you sleep now though."
I let out a small groan. "Nooooo I wanna go. Come on, I'm not even that tired." I tried, thinking of reasoning on the go.
Wally didn't say anything, instead wrapping his arms around me as he pulled me in for a tight hug. At first I tried to push away but soon enough the warmth seemed to seep into me, making my eyes heavy, almost as if weights were tied to them.
"What did I say?" I only grumbled in response as I leaned into his chest. I could hear a small chuckle as I felt my feet getting lifted off the ground. With my energy seeping out I couldn't do anything but allow myself to get moved, even though I desperately wanted to stay awake. I needed to continue memorizing.
I knew this was all over though as soon as I felt the soft cushions of the couch beneath me. The world around me seemed to seep out as darkness overcame me.
--------------Wally's POV:----------------
I'd barely reached the couch when Percy went limp, her tired eyes finally resting as her breathing evened out. I couldn't help the small sigh that escaped me. I knew that she was tired, the bags under her eyes were enough to show me that alone.
I tried staying quiet as I tried to keep Percy comfortable, making sure she got the best sleep she could have until I'd eventually have to wake her up for the meeting she mentioned. Though I couldn't help but feel bad. This job must be extremely stressful if she's been exhausting herself to this extent.
I decided to talk with her about it later, possibly try and reason her out of the job and into the job pool again. If not I'd just try and tell her to take better care of herself.
And so I sat. For the next few hours I scrolled on my phone while Percy laid beside me on the couch, moving only occasionally. When the clock struck 4 I decided it was okay to wake her up.
I looked over to see her peaceful face, her black hair thrown around and yet looking almost placed like a painting. I knew I'd feel bad for waking her up but I'd feel worse if I made her miss her meeting so with a small huff I gently shook her awake, her eyes first fluttering before landing on me.
She seemed to blink a couple of times before a small smile appeared on her face.
"Hey Wally, whatcha doing here?" She asked quietly, pushing herself up slowly as she stretched.
"Well I came over and you seemed to be so tired that when I hugged you, you passed out." Percy nodded for a second, rubbing her eyes before her hand dropped and her eyes opened wide.
"Wait, what time is it?!" She asked panickedly. Her awareness growing immediately.
"Don't worry, I made sure to wake you up by 4, you have time, I assume, to get ready and to go to your meeting." Percy stopped and looked over, relief seeming to wash over her. She took a minute longer before sighing.
"Thanks Wally, the nap helped a lot." She said quietly, relaxing like she had before.
I smiled and nudged her slightly "It's no problemo, especially since I got to-"
"No cheesy lines right now okay?" She said with a smirk, laying her head on my shoulder.
"Fine, but don't expect that to work so easily next time" I said with a slight huff. This only caused her to chuckle slightly. I took in the moment quickly before nodding to myself. "Well I guess I gotta leave you to it, huh? Tell me how the meeting goes okay?" Percy's face momentarily filled with disappointment before a smile replaced the look and she nodded.
"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow." I quickly placed a quick kiss on her cheek before standing up and leaving.
