-------------Percy's POV:-------------
"Alright, what's playing tonight?" Wally asked, shuffling around behind me as he got comfortable. I smiled as he wrapped us both in the blanket, my back pressed up against his chest as his legs surrounded my own. He had left me in control of the controller as he kept his arms wrapped tightly around my waist.
I couldn't help but smile at the fact that he literally had a whole bowl of pasta to eat and yet he left it on the coffee table which was way out of his reach, especially in his position.
"uhhh, are you opposed to finding dory?" I asked, turning my head as far back as I could to see his expression. While I could only see half of his face I could already make out his smirk.
"I'm totally down to see Finding Dory" He said with enthusiasm, his eyes lighting up slightly. I felt a warm feeling growing on my face at his smile. I quickly turned back to the tv as I clicked through the movies, clicking on finding dory as the intro began.
I took a deep breath before putting all my weight back on Wally, the warmth of the blanket finally getting to a reasonable temperature.
The first half of the movie was going great, with Wally only letting go of my waist occasionally to eat his pasta, in record time mind you, and to sip on his Gatorade.
That was until we reached the part where Dory and the octopus started to make their great escape.
"Percy" Wally said quietly, leaning forwards in an effort to get into view, though only pushing me forwards slightly.
"yes?" I replied, shifting to the side slightly to look him in the eyes. His face held one of slight concern. This worried me more than it should've.
"Can we talk for a second? I promise it's nothing bad, I just want to check in" This only succeeded in relieving a little pressure.
"Of course we can, whats up?" I asked.
"Look, I know that finding a job must've been hard and all but lately, well, it seems to be a bit bad for your health. I mean you skipped nights of sleeping, and even caught a cold from how much stress this has been causing. It's just-" He paused taking a deep breath and going over my features quickly. "I don't want you hurting yourself over something you can change. I mean I'm sure you can find another, less stressful, job that would be more fruitful." he said, his face holding one of seriousness.
I paused. I mean he had a point but it wasn't really the job, rather the people in my job.
"It's not the job that's been stressing me out, it's the people. You see I decided to join this group of people who I really know little about. They claim to have my same ideals and motivations in mind but... how do I put this..."
"You're uncertain if they're lying to have you on their team or if they're being genuine?" Wally asked, looking at me with worried eyes.
I nodded, a half tried smile playing on my lips. "Yeah. Like they claim they want to help the company and get rid of all the people wasting our money but at the same time I can't shake the idea that maybe... maybe they're lying and all they are, are the people wasting the money in the first place." I said, looking over to Wally for any kind of input. He seemed to be in thought, instead looking into my eyes with some sort of idea forming.
"hm... Do you happen to know anyone close to the people in the group? Maybe other employees who've worked with them? Or even family members of the group? Plus, if you're getting a bad feeling then maybe trust your gut. I've found that in my case it's ended up being right more times than not."
I nodded slightly. "I actually do happen to know some people who worked with them. I'll try and talk with them as soon as possible, until then I'll stay away." I said, confidence gaining in me as I continued to speak. I watched a smile played on Wally's lips.
"Good, I'm glad I could help you out." he said, "But I have one more thing we can talk about, but if it makes you feel at all uncomfortable we can stop okay?" He told me, raising his eyebrows to emphasize his point. I nodded quickly a bit unnerved by the thought of another question.
" I came over when you were sicker earlier today. I came across your aunt and uncle by the way, lovely people, but to the point, you happened to turn over in your sleep and I noticed some scars on your back. Some of them looked...new. Is everything okay? Is someone...hurting you?" he asked cautiously, his face growing more worried with every millisecond I didn't answer.
"I uh..." I started, trying to find a good way to explain this away. Eventually I let out a defeated sigh. "My step dad did a couple of the older ones." I started. "He was a lying piece of trash who would try and steal my moms money. I, being the idiot I am, would try and stop the 300 pound man with all of my tremendous 70 pounds. Funny thing, the underdog does not always win." I let out a dry chuckle. " The others were from random unlucky events. A dog bite here and there, a random mugging on the other side. A couple weeks before I met you I was at my old job but someone was smoking indoors, and one thing led to another and suddenly the place was burning down. I got some bad burns on my back that've only recently healed. In all honesty most of it is chalked up to my bad luck, but now, now no one is hurting me. I really am okay." I said with a small smile, bringing my hand to his own as I interlaced our fingers. "My step dad disappeared a while ago so he's not coming back anytime soon."
Wally just laid his head on my shoulder, squeezing my hand lightly.
"I promise to do everything in my power to stop you from getting hurt again, okay?" I let out a soft chuckle as I nodded.
"Alright. But for now I just want to watch the movie." Wally let out a small chuckle before nodding.
"I can do that." His arms resumed their place around my waist as we once again continued to watch the movie.
