-----------Percy's POV: -------------

"We're going to have to pass" I said with a small smile, grabbing Wally's hand tight. He looked to me in confusion but I kept my sights on Poseidon. I could see the slight disappointment in his features but he brought a smile to his face. "I'm sorry but, a lot's happened tonight and I don't think I can take much more..." Poseidon nodded a bit, his hands going in front of him as he fiddled with the water, making it swish back and fourth.

"I get it, but-"

"I'll visit, no more disappearing acts." I said quickly, releasing Wally's hand as I stepped forwards. I took a deep breath. Apparently leaving a father who'd left you for a long time was difficult to do. "we'll keep in contact, and I'll try my best to call once a week. No rushing though, okay?"

Poseidon's eyebrows knitted together as his smile wobbled almost like he was going to break out into a sob. In a second he nodded quickly before pushing himself forwards and wrapping me in a comfortable hug.

I hugged back, pushing my face into the crease of his neck as I allowed myself a moment to recognize. Poseidon wasn't perfect, but this was a start, and that's all I asked.

Eventually we split and I regained my position next to Wally, his hand sneaking to my own as our fingers interlaced.

Poseidon took a deep breath before turning to Wally. "You seem like a good guy." He said with a small, yet strained smile. "So treat my little sea star well okay?" I didn't have to look over to know Wally was nodding as he squeezed my hand.

"Absolutely."

I rolled my eyes at the small non-verbal conversation the two were having but I couldn't stop the smile that rose to my lips.

When they finished my father turned to me. "I'll send you two home. It's the least I can do." I nodded, dad gave me a small wave. "I love you sea star"

"I love you to dad"

And with a snap of his fingers and the strong scent of sea water Wally and I were suddenly standing in the middle of his apartment, the cool air conditioning immediately sending a shiver down my neck and I could feel Wally's hand squeeze my own in shock before he doubled over, his other hand flying over his mouth.

I almost forgot that travelling this way took some getting used to.

"Hey! Whoa whoa! it's okay!" I said quickly, placing a gentle hand on Wally's back as he continued to hold back what looked to be an overwhelming amount of motion sickness. I looked around before spotting the couch. Carefully, I guided him over to it, sitting him down carefully. "You stay here" I said quietly, rubbing small circles into his back. "I'm going to get you a drink"

I turned to walk away but I was stopped as a hand wrapped around my wrist. I stopped and turned to Wally who had managed to get his hand off his mouth, though he was extremely pale.

"Wally , baby, I need to get you water." I said quietly, trying my best to wriggle out of his grip. Wally just shook his head and tugged me towards him, forcing me to sit besides him on the couch. In a very teddy bear like movement he wrapped his arms around me, resting his head on my shoulder.

I couldn't help but smile as I let out a small sigh. I wrapped my arms around him gently, trying to apply as little pressure as possible. I carefully rubbed small circles into his back as I allowed him a moment of rest. I remembered how I first felt when Nico took me shadow traveling. I would shiver but I really didn't want to disturb Wally.

"Thank you" Wally said quietly, his warm breath sending tingles down my neck. I stayed quiet as I let him regain his strength. If there was one thing I knew about Wally, it's that one sentence wasn't enough to cover everything.

After a long pause he continued. "I'm not sure what would've happened if you hadn't arrived. I..." he let out a small sigh. "I could've died without even getting to say goodbye." I could hear the bitter tone towards the end, something I used to hear in the campers voices.

Regret.

"It's okay Wally, I just-" I paused my comforting for a moment, my hand stopping as well as I tried to think of the best way to talk about this. "I don't want to lose you, and I don't want to be lost either, that's why this whole superhero thing is such a tricky thing. Playing with the fates often means bad hands. Some of which result in loss." Wally stayed still for a while, his breathing the only thing keeping me assured he was still awake.

"How about we both take a break?" His voice was barely above a whisper and if he wasn't right beside my ear, I'm not sure I would've heard it.

"A break?" I asked, pushing back from the hug a bit.

The lighting in the room was poor, casting an eerie yet serene light on Wally's face. I could make out a small, yet sad smile. "A break from hero-ing. I 'm gonna need some time to heal you know?" a small smirk flashed across his lips as he directed my attention to his arm with his eyes, eventually guiding me back to his eyes once more. "Plus, I think it would do the both of us some good." he leaned forwards and placed a small kiss to my forehead.

"Is that what you want?" I asked, looking over to him with a small smile of my own.

Wally pursed his lips, shaking his head before cracking out into a smile again. "Percy, it's not just my decision, we're in this together. This decision affects the both of us, so are you okay with it?" My eyes ran across his features quickly. I tried my best to point out any signs of him leaning to either side but nothing.

With a short huff a smirk came to my lips. "Be prepared to spend a lot of time with me Mr. West."

He let out a short chuckle. "I wouldn't have it any other way Ms. Jackson" I quickly leaned forwards and pressed a kiss to his lips, the warmth seeming to spread from my lips to my cheeks. When I pulled back Wally had a massive grin on his face.

"I love you Percy" The words nearly gave me whiplash as a torrent of newly added warmth rose to my cheeks and ears but I didn't have time to respond as Wally dragged me down into a laying position, my face position in front of his chest as he held me tight.

After getting used to my new spot I relaxed myself, "I love you too Wally." I squeezed back and I instantly felt him tense. I could feel my smirk return in full force as I shook my head. "You need that water don't y-"

"Oh God, yes I do." Wally said, sounding almost relieved. I tried my best to stiffle a laugh as I pushed myself up. "I was trying my best to keep it in, you know, romantic moment and all." I shook my head as I got off the couch. "Seriously, how do you not feel like your guts are getting flipped in and out like a pair of socks!?"

I couldn't stop myself from laughing as I walked to the kitchen.

Such a lovable doofus.
