Chapter 40: Well hello there

((Few days later nothing big has happened in the hero side))

Now I'd have no right to call myself Wally's best friend if I hadn't noticed how happy he'd been lately. Even when we hung out he was always on his phone, smiling and laughing at odd moments. He just seemed distracted.

The only times I'd seen this was when he was in a relationship, at least, the beginning stages of a relationship. Though he'd always tell me about them and from what I could remember he hadn't said anything, and this has been going on for months. So either this was a new phenomenon or Wally's been in a relationship without telling me.

I was determined to find out what it was, or rather, who they were, today. I looked down to the drinks and snacks that were loaded in the bags at my sides. I smiled to myself as I took a deep breath. I was totally finding out today.

I knocked on the door sternly, the knock seeming to resonate in the building. Sure, it was a bit early for Wally, but this would teach him to actually get up before noon.

No sounds came from behind the door, and I quickly raised my fist to knock again when the door suddenly opened. I opened my mouth, preparing to give a greeting when I paused. No bright orange hair appeared and rather I was met with black hair, a white streak running through it. My brows furrowed as I was met with a woman, her teal eyes stared at me sleepily as he black hair seemed to go every which way, somehow looking nice.

"You're not Harper" She said quietly, squinting at me.

"You're not Wally" I said back, quickly checking to make sure I got the right room. Once confirmed I looked back to the woman, her face still looking unimpressed. "Is Wally here?" I asked, slight concern growing in me. She paused, squinting as she looked me up and down before meeting my eyeline again.

"What's it to you?" She asked incredulously. "For all I know you're-" She stopped once more, realization seeming to dawn on her face as she nodded. I prepared for the usual shock.

"You're Richard Grayson!" "Bruce Wayne's Ward"

Instead I received. "You're the dude in the photos. Dick right?" She asked hesitantly, as if trying not to get my name wrong. I nodded, a small smile appeared on my face.

"That's me. Now is Wally here or did he move without my knowledge." I asked, trying to look past her. She let out a small sigh.

"He's here, you mind giving me a sec to wake him up?" I slowly nodded, feeling a small conclusion coming to mind. The woman gave me a small smile, leaving the door slightly ajar as she walked inside. I heard a small ruffling before a loud crash not a second later Wally appeared in my view, a nervous smile on his face. I merely returned it with a conniving smile.

"Heyyy Dick. Didn't know you'd be popping by today" He said quickly, obviously he'd just woken up and was clearly startled.

"Oh really? Did you forget our plans today?" I asked back, putting on a slightly upset smile. Wally stammered for a second, looking inside before at me.

Finally he finished, deciding to stick on me. "We had plans?" He asked quietly yet exasperatedly. I'd played this trick on him so many times and yet he never seemed to remember it at the right times.

"No Wall-man, I just stopped by, but it seems others had the same idea." I mentioned, looking behind him to see the woman with a white tank top and sweats make her way into the kitchen. Wally merely laughed lightly before giving up and letting out a small sigh.

"Just come in" He said, defeated, turning around and jogging into his room, coming out with clean clothes not too long after. He really needed to be careful using his powers like that. What if the girl finds out. My eyebrows unintentionally furrowed slightly but they were cut off by a clinking noise. My head snapped in that direction to find the woman, her lips pulled into a small smile as she set a cup of coffee down on the table in front of me.
