---------Percy's POV:-----------

—-------a few months later—--------

"Percy! Dinner's done!" Wally called from the kitchen, my attention being diverted from the tv in front of me to the kitchen. I smiled to myself as I stood up.

We'd come up with a system to take turns when it came to preparing dinner, tonight just so happened to be his night, and while that usually meant pasta because it was kinda difficult to screw up pasta, I really didn't mind.

I hurried into the kitchen to find just what I was expecting, two steaming plates of pasta, though one held a significant amount of extra pasta compared to the other.

I turned to see Wally with a massive grin on his face, his emerald eyes practically lighting up at how proud he was.

I couldn't help but also feel proud as well, a similar smile making its way onto my face as I walked forwards and placed my hands on his shoulders as I planted a quick peck on his lips.

"It looks great Wally, couch or table?" He paused for a minute to feign thought before his usual grin reappeared, one that only arrived when he chooses couch.

"Couch, I'm feeling a movie tonight." I couldn't help but feel proud of my foresight.

"Alright, I'll go grab the blankets, you mind bringing the plates?" He nodded, turning back to the food as I turned to the living room, grabbing the comfy blanket off the chair just as Wally set the two plates of food on the coffee table.

"So what're we watching tonight?" I asked, sitting down besides Wally who watched as I sat down, taking the blanket from me before putting it over the both of us.

I took the remote, quickly turning on some random movie that had to do with the ocean before picking up my plate and starting to eat, something Wally had gotten a head start on.

Life without being a hero was surprisingly...calm. I'd never really envisioned it to be so peaceful. I wasn't complaining though, it was a nice lifestyle, one I think I could quickly become accustomed to.

...

There was a downside though.

I turned to Wally, his eyes entranced in the movie displayed before him. I couldn't stop my eyes from falling though, trailing down to his exposed arm that was wrapped in bandages.

He'd gotten it a day earlier, fighting another Villain who managed to slam him into a wall. He tried hiding it from me for a while but you can't exactly hide a massive bruise forever. It was so dark I'd thought it killed the flesh around his bone.

Of course he tried to play it off as though it wasn't a big deal, and the super healing was working wonders on the bruise but gods had it been terrifying. I couldn't do anything to help, all I could do was see the end result, the darkened skin signifying the fact that I hadn't been there to help him.

What if I wasn't there when he needed me the most?

That thought was the scariest of the bunch.

"-ercy?" I snapped out of my thoughts as I suddenly felt the small shake from my side, my eyes flying up to catch on Wally's. His face was completely concerned. "Percy are you okay?" I looked to my side to see the movie now paused. I turned back, nodding quickly.

"Yeah, yeah I'm alright. I just zoned out, that's all." I quickly turned back to my food, the noodles now looking a lot more interesting than before.

"Percy, you just stared at my bandaged arm for like 3 minutes straight, are you sure everything's okay?" I turned back to Wally, his face showing he was obviously not reassured by previous reassurance.

I took a deep breath before nodding. "Yeah, I promise." he looked at me a moment longer before nodding.

"Alright, if you say so. Just remember, I promise I'm alright, really, the bruise doesn't even hurt any-" I quickly tapped his arm, earning a small hiss from him before his smile returned.

"I know it hurts, I just ask that you tell me if it becomes too much" He paused before nodding.

"Of course I'd tell you" I nodded before turning back to the show.

"Now let's keep watching, I was getting invested" He nodded, turning on the show, the fish continuing to swim on screen.

—---------------------------

I was woken up by the ruffling of bed sheets. Slowly my eyes opened to reveal Wally cautiously getting off the bed, his wrist watch glowing a bright blue in the dark room. I knew what that meant.

I slowly pushed myself off the bed, Wally quickly turning to me. "Percy! I'm so sorry! Did I wake you up?" he whispered. I shook my head, lying in order to not make him feel as bad.

"No no, I just had a feeling is all." Wally paused momentarily before nodding.

"I got called out again, I'll be back by morning okay?" I nodded, putting on a small smile.

"Okay" I replied. I moved forwards. He leaned down and I met him halfway as I gently pressed a hand to his cheek, pressing a soft kiss on his lips before getting back in bed. "Please be safe."

I heard a small chuckle as drawers opened and closed in rapid succession. "You know I always am."

I paused, looking at him once more. "I love you"

He looked at me again, a smile being shown on his face by the glowing watch on his wrist. "I love you too, now get some sleep."

I lingered on his figure before nodding, laying back down as I turned away from the light.

Eventually he left, the closing of the door ringing out in the empty apartment, signifying the time I could get up and out of bed.

I knew I wasn't going to bed again. I wasn't tired, rather I was worried. I pushed myself out of bed and into the kitchen, keeping my footsteps soft and inaudible.

I turned on a small light before grabbing a cup and filling it with water. I used my powers to boil the water in the cup before placing a tea bag in the water.

I knew I wasn't going to sleep.

And I didn't.

I didn't relax until Wally came home early in the morning, new bandages wrapped tight around his arms and legs. A small limp in one leg.

He'd claimed he was fine, telling me nothing had really happened, but a quick call to Dick said otherwise.

He'd been thrown by Bane, took a quick tumble down some flights of stairs, and was stabbed by someone mid run.

But he continued to smile and tell me that he was okay.

This continued to repeat and suddenly, a normal life was becoming a little more trouble then it was worth.
