The words aren't saying what I want them to say,
The lines are bleeding out false feelings,
Miscommunication, misinterpretation, misunderstanding,
Don't dance around intent, be straightforward.
I need to be straightforward too,
But honesty is a sharp blade,
Where neither side comes out unscathed.
I don't want to hurt the people I care for,
But hypothetically speaking, if we
Measured how we felt,
You and I wouldn't share the same feelings,
And it's not your fault
—You're a wonderful person—
You smile with the world's grandeur,
But I can't return that light.
