If time were a landscape, it would be infinite,

Stretching outwards towards the stars,

A deep blue horizon, a quiet soft wind,

Lifting the countless grains of flowing sand,

Dotting our memories, sifting underneath our feet.

Sometimes the howl of the wind would remind us,

Thoughts, ideas, and words uttered once before:

"I love you." "Let's make a promise."

Evoking a longing in the heart, a need

To search for someone or something,

But time is infinite and the sand slips through

Never quite staying in the palms of our hands.

I wonder if those words were ever real,

Or if the wind and sands like to tell stories,

But sometimes, as if a gust of hope sweeps by,

We find treasure buried in the sand,

A trinket, a token, a gift,

A reminder that it was once real, that it was true

That you once met me, and I once loved you

And it wasn't a dream, but a memory—

A feeling, lost in the sands of time.
