These selfish feelings, she could not

Speak out loud. So then,

if she could make a list of

All the things she'd always wanted to say,

But couldn't, then what would they be?

"Whenever you're ready to share,

I am here to listen to you."

"I miss you. I missed you so much."

"I'm scared to be alone,

Please don't go."

"Why did you have to leave?"

"I love you, I always have."

"Please don't leave me behind."

"Do you love him more than me?"

"Please don't forget about me."

"I missed you too."

"I want us to go together."

"Can I stand by your side?"

"You're beautiful, you look amazing."

"I'm sorry for everything,

Can you forgive me?"

"I wish you would talk to me genuinely,

Not just when it's convenient to you."

"Please stop using me."

"I love you too."

She wrote these words on a piece of paper,

And wrapped them up tightly,

Surrounded by fake, selfless lies,

Folded them into a boat and

Let them float down the river.

These selfless feelings, always

Feel so thin, easily ripped, yet

They are the ones that keep this paper boat

Stay afloat on the river of life when the

Waves keep crashing and crashing.

"I understand that you're busy right now,

I'll talk to you later."

"I wouldn't want to be a bother."

"I'm sorry for slowing you down,

Please go on ahead without me."

"You can leave me, I'll be okay."

"I'll see you later!"

"I'll catch up to you! Don't worry about me."

"He's so amazing, I agree! And

it's hard to follow in his footsteps."

"We'll meet again, it's a promise."

"You got this! I'll support you from behind."

"You're amazing, I'm glad to have met you."

"That color looks great on you."

"You don't understand anything,

Leave me alone."

"Hey, how are you doing? I'm doing well,

And of course I can help you out!"

"The pleasure is mine."

"You're cool, you know?"

No matter how many waves the river

Sends her way, the boat will keep

Floating the way it was made to float,

Always eager to give without

Ever taking anything for itself.
