You saved me

Chapter 3

Meredith's POV:

I fiddled with my watch around my wrist whilst looking around my new office at all the empty boxes. I had to unpack some of the boxes there wasn't much to unpack I didn't really have any personal items to show. Most people may have photos of loved ones I choose not to have any photos it's not as if I had any loved ones other then my daughter anyway she saved me and doesn't know it. She is all I have. I don't really tell people much about her in case something bad happens her name is Ellis , yes I named her after my mother. She has beautiful blue eyes and blonde hair she recently just turned 3 on February 16th. She is constantly doing little dances ever since she could walk so maybe when she is a little older I might put her into dance if she wants to. Just thinking about her makes me want to go back home and check in on her so I decided to message the babysitter see how everything is before I go off to observe Dr Shepherd and Dr Burke's surgery. My neighbour Mary she is 76 I feel bad asking her to look after Ellis but she is always offering to ever since I moved here last month she has been so kind to me. Ellis starts preschool on Wednesday so I wont have to ask Mary again to look after her as I feel horrible asking. I sent off my message then grabbed my lab coat from the back off my chair and threw it on. I believe Shepherd and Burke's surgery was in O.R 2 so off I took to the gallery.

I slipped into the gallery and saw an empty seat next to Richard I planned on observing most of the surgeries today so I pulled out my notebook as I sat down. I gave a soft smile to Richard as I heard my phone beeped I went to look at it and noticed a message back from Mary.

'She's doing perfectly fine we just had some lunch I made her mac and cheese which I remember you told me was her favourite. It got everywhere though so I just cleaned her up and now we are going to do some finger painting. Everything is alright Meredith.'

I smiled whilst reading her text then an image came through. It was Ellis all covered in mac n cheese with a huge smile that showed a couple of her teeth, I had a little bit of an off day and seeing her immediately made it all the better.

'Ah is that mini Ellis?' Richard pointed at my phone .

I looked at him and quickly shut off my phone putting it in my pocket. 'Yep that's her' I have an awkward smile.

'Well she looks just like you' Richard said placing an arm on my shoulder which at first I hesitantly moved away from but then realised I done it 'Sorry I don't normally ... I don't ... no ... I don't usually do that' I gave a forced giggle.

'Meredith it's fine I see you ramble quite a bit still'

'Oh - I'm sorry I know I shouldn't'

'You have always rambled since you were a child it's one of your quirks Meredith and don't apologise for it' He gave me a sympathetic look before leaving the gallery. Richard doesn't know what happened in my past but when he called me and offered me Chief I told him I had a daughter so I wasn't sure if I could just pack up everything and move but he assured me everything would be okay. He asked how I was and about Ellis' dad, I said he wasn't in the picture but Richard kept asking questions and they were getting a bit personal. I don't like talking about my past. I hated when people asked about her father even when they are just being nice I know they don't know the story but my stomach turns when I think of him. Hearing his name brings back all the memories. And that name , that name was Finn.
