There was only one thing on Meredith's mind, and that was because of the fantastic skills she had just seen in the O.R. She was only there as supervision as no one else wanted to do it, because it was Amelia. But after seeing that she couldn't understand why no one wanted to mentor her. Maybe she should do it? Yes Amelia had a way to go, being only a resident, but so does every other surgeon. There was only one wobble that Amelia had which was at the start in the scrub room. Something all surgeons will go through more than once. Meredith managed to build her confidence back up after telling her her two rules: never take any bad energy/air into the operating room, and always be confident. But even after that Meredith could tell Amelia was still feeling a bit worried and the pair decided to do something Amelia had once read and that is what led them to holding a superhero pose together.
The surgery all in all was successful and Meredith secretly hoped to work with Amelia again. The two had gone their separate ways after giggling and exchanging a few comments as well as their numbers. Just as Meredith was heading out to the hospital car park she felt her phone buzz causing her to stop in her tracks and route in her bag for it.
"Looking for something?" Nick asked approaching out of nowhere. She looked up quickly and finally found her phone and grabbing it."Found it" she waved her phone in the air.
He slightly chuckled and she took this as a chance to read the message that come through.' Thought I would come see you after your surgery and see how you've been'
~ DerekDerek messaged causing a grin as she read it. She walked off realising Nick was still standing there following her out.
"I'll walk you out" Nick offered."Oh that's okay I'm meeting someone" she awkwardly smiled.
"Boyfriend?" He asked.
She nodded her head as they walked out the doors.Derek was out the front of the hospital waiting for her he had his service covered for the rest of the afternoon as he had a surprise in stock for him and Meredith. He saw her exiting the hospital wearing her lab coat over this navy dress which fitted every part of her perfectly. Then he noticed the man next to her. Something filled Derek's mind but couldn't place it. Jealousy? But what he also couldn't place was why this man had such greasy hair.
Meredith pulled him out of his thoughts when she excitedly ran in for a hug off Derek to which he took to another level by pulling her even closer and kissing her all whilst using his hands to roam her body before finding a spot just on her ass. After a moment she pulled away ready to leave, as she did she realise Nick still standing there scratching his head. She stepped next to Derek slotting her arm between his.
"Nick this is Derek, Derek this is Nick" she spoke leaning into Derek."Pleasure to meet you Derek..." Nick said motioning for his last name.
Derek was slightly caught offguard by what he was waiting for then realised "Oh yes. Dr Derek Shepherd" he said shaking his hand but not asking the same question to Nick. Which then caused an awkward silence between the three.
"Well let's go Mer I have a surprise for you" Derek said turning them towards his Porsche.
"A surprise? And for me?" She smiled raising her brow.
"Yes of course for you. Well rather for both of us but I thought of you mostly" He laughed.
They got into his car and as they pulled out the car park Derek then spoke up again.
"So who was he?""You just introduced yourself to each other" she giggled.
"Yeah but... Uhm" he began trailing off.
"His name is Nick Marsh he's a transplant surgeon at Seattle Pres. He was in mine and Amelia surgery. You're a little jealous huh" she teased.
"No, not jealous I'm not jealous at all"
"Mhmm" she left the conversation there.
"Fine maybe a little jealous." He admitted.
"I think it's cute."
"Cute." He scrunched his face.
"Fine sweet."
He looked at her and just laughed.
"So how did the surgery with Amelia go?"" Spectacularly , she was amazing, I hope to see her again."
"I hope you do too" Derek smiled.
"Let's see if any of the attendings will help teach her now and if not she may be calling me in like that again. I did say I was more than happy to do it"
Derek still kept smiling he knew she would see her again as he knew he was going to take her to meet his family.
"In case I didn't mention this before you look amazing in that dress the moment I saw you I was worried I would forget how to talk." Derek winked.
She didn't say anything other than go rather red which he noticed. Did he embarrass her?
—
"Derek where are we? This doesn't seem like a main road anymore." She started to get worried it looked like they were going into the woods. Only bad things happened in the woods. Oh God was he going to kill her? These are the only ideas that were currently trailing through her mind."You'll see" he said.
"Derek you're scaring me why are we in the woods? Why would you bring me here? Are you going to kill me?" Panic now falling on her face. To which he quickly realised he was unknowingly scaring her.
"No no Meredith I'm sorry I should explain. Don't worry nothing bad is going to happen I thought we can maybe campout?" He said softly.
"Oh" she giggled. "Okay phew. Wait no I can't I need to go sort Ellis you know my daughter."
"She's staying with Alex apparently he was spending the evening with her anyway."
"Yeah. But I don't have any stuff like spare clothes." She said trying to gather an excuse.
"Don't worry about that I got Alex to pack you a bag" he pointed to the brown handbag on the backseats.
"So you have it all figured out then do you?" Meredith smiled at him removing the shocked look that was sprawled on her face before.
"I do indeed" he said switching the car off as they reached the end of the dirt path.
"What's that?" Meredith pointed to a trailer you could almost see as they stepped out the car.
Now or well there was no never it was happening now. The moment Derek had slightly been dreading he was going to tell Meredith that he lived in that trailer. He was worried at first but recently has been more open to the fact of telling her. Which is what has led them to now, them camping in that trailer that he was about to tell her he lived in.
He held out his hand to which she happily took and they made their way towards it.
"You see that trailer there I live in it. All this land is mine, I brought it having no clue what to do with it"
Though now he had an idea what he wanted to do with it and who he wanted to share it with. Too soon? "I used to live in New York before I moved out here to Seattle. My first day here I took a walk in the woods and that's when I stumbled across this land, noticed it was for sale and immediately had to have it. Down there, there is a lake, somewhere I can fish every morning." Derek says more nervous now as to how she would react. She smiles at him a grin from ear to ear. "It's beautiful Derek. The views are breathtaking and of course I can understand why someone would want to live here." She squidged herself closer to him as they walked.
The pair walked towards the trailer which was sat smack in the middle of all the land. What she couldn't wait to see was the lake.
