You saved me

Chapter 15

They had gone to the restaurant that Derek had chosen it was just by the first place that they had coffee together. That's when he learnt about her interest in ferry boats. He was wearing a blue shirt with the top buttons undone and black trousers to go. The blue brought out his eyes you see.

As they walked in to the restaurant they were met by a waitress.

'Do you have a booking?' She asked.

Derek walked to the counter where she stood ' Yes we do it should be under Shepherd.'

'Ah yes here it is. If you would like to follow me Mr and Mrs Shepherd' she motioned her hand out.

Meredith's face twinged and looked at Derek with an embarrassing grin. Of course she would have thought she was Mrs Shepherd don't make a big deal out of it. Though Shepherd does have a nice ring to it. Well a ring would be included now wouldn't it.

They sat down at the table they were shown to in which Derek held out her chair acting like a proper gentleman. Meredith was taken by the action she had never had an experience like this and it had only just started. The last date she went on was horrible granted it was years ago but here she was having a seat pulled out for her, before she was being dragged out a seat. But that's another story for another time.

They placed their orders and ordered some wine which they both agreed would be better then their usual preferred drinks.

They made slow and easy conversation about everything.

'So I only saw a glimpse of you at work earlier I did call for you but I'm guessing you didn't hear me.' Derek chuckled.

'Oh I'm so sorry I didn't hear you, I was in for a few meetings until the day got worse because of Burke, then I went over to another hospital for a meeting about me consulting a case at Seattle Presbyterian.'

'Busy day then. What did Burke do that made it get worse ?' Derek asked genuinely concerned. He knew Burke had something against her but what and why was unknown to him.

She wasn't upset about it she took today on the arm.

'Stormed in to my meeting demanding I take Teddy off Cardio, he was acting as though she was an intern who you could just throw out. I asked why and he said he didn't enjoy teaching someone, which I then had to inform him she didn't need teaching if anything she has a better reputation than him. Did you know she was in the army ?' Meredith giggled.
'But anyway I said she is the top in the field if he didn't like it then find another job in which he stormed off like a child. I must say he's worse then Ellis. But she knows how to share her toys maybe I should let her teach Burke how to share.'

'I'm sorry Burke keeps giving you a hard time.'

'It's not your fault.' She gave a weak smile.

'So you mentioned today was full of meetings.'

'Long. Very long. Boring meetings. Hospital finance etc staff hiring, improving the NICU and a surprise I will be talking about with all the head of departments. And before you ask no I can't tell you as it isn't completely confirmed yet!' She laughed
'Only other interesting thing is going over for the surgery at Seattle Pres. Patient needs a neurosurgeon as well as a general surgeon and it's funny . The head doctor on the team is in fact a resident. You may know her. Dr Amelia Shepherd?' Meredith's eyes glistened.

'Ahh my sister. Yea. She pissed off her attending and basically anyone willing to teach her. She's my favourite sister but don't tell the others I said that or I might not come back from the wolves alive.' He laughed.

'Well I'll be meeting her next week, hopefully she won't in your words I quote piss me off as she will be my resident.'

Derek just smiled before leaning back and laughing.

'What's so funny?' Meredith raised a brow.

'Nothing. Your younger then her and are going to be bossing her around. Not many people like that which I'm sure you know. She would probably love it though as she doesn't like listening to the old hags as she would say. And a greater fact my girlfriend will be bossing my sister around.' The smile slightly faded as he realised what he had said.

'Girlfriend?' Meredith questioned with a slight grin.

'Oh umm well I-I uhh....' Seems Meredith's rambling had been contagious as Derek now had it.

' I like that. Girlfriend. But take me on a second date and a few others to confirm it.'  She winked.

'I'd love to.' He leaned closer to her reaching his hand out as well.

She followed his movements before teasing him and moving back 'but at last this one is only just starting.'

'Indeed it is.'

A few hours had flown past and the restaurant was now closing except the pair hadn't realised as they were too heavy in conversation and having a good time.

'Excuse me we are closing now.' A waiter said before the two burst out laughing and stood up ready to leave.

They walked out to the car when Meredith's phone beeped. She looked down at it to read the message.

'Sorry about that' she looked up to Derek 'just a mail reminding me about the second lot of medical students who will be visiting the programme this week coming. As if I would forget.'

'No worries just don't lumber all of them with me like you did Mark.' He smiled remembering the day. 'Anyway what time should I come over tomorrow?' Derek questioned leaning on the car.

'Huh?'

'I offered the other day we are off to get paint and bits for Ellis' room I'm going with you and helping you out, and don't deny help.' He raised his palms up.

'I wasn't going to deny help' she folded her arms.

'Yes you were your too proud now give me a time.' He placed his hands around her shoulders.

'IKEA would be the best place so early as possible.'

'I'll come at 9'

'Thankyou' she rested her hands around his neck. They slowly moved their faces together. With a moment of hesitation before their lips crashed. Soft and gentle until suddenly Meredith pushed further to him demanding entrance. To which Derek deepened and his hands flowed down her body, pulling her closer to him. She slightly raised her leg around his waist gripping on, he grabbed onto her thigh which sent shocks all around her body. Derek wasn't able to contain himself as his growing erection was now starting to push through his jeans. She could feel it and moved closer to him. His free hand brushed through her hair. Neither wanted to break the kiss though eventually they would be needing air. She pushed her nose into his for a slight breath when a loud car horn beeped making the two jump and pull apart hesitantly.
