"Sweetie, you okay? You've been in there for a while now. Is something wrong?" I froze.
"I-uh- no, no- don't worry mom, I'm fine." I called out uneasily.
I didn't tell mom about the Black Mamba incident. It was strange enough as it is, I didn't want mom fretting and worrying over it.
"Anyway, I'm going to the store, do you want anything?" Mom asked through the bathroom door.
"Can you bring me another sketchbook?" I asked as I turned off the shower.
"Isn't this the third book I'm buying you this month?" I let out a sheepish laugh.
"Okay fine I'll bring it, don't open the door to strangers and don't go out until I get back. Keep the doors and windows locked, I'll be locking the front door." I heard mom call out as the door closed.
I sighed and bent down to check my brand new scar. I was still trying to comprehend what happened.
I quickly got dressed and came out of the bathroom towel wrapped around my hair.
I froze as my blood ran cold at the sight.
A scream erupted in my throat as I quickly put my hand on top of my mouth, reducing the scream into a squeak.
I quickly backed away into the bathroom, my back firm against its door. I felt my heart thumping against my ribcage as yellow beady eyes turned to stare at me.
I gulped.
I watched wide eyed as it morphed into a human.
He had midnight black hair and dark brown eyes. He was wearing a pair of dark jeans, black leather jacket and a gray polo t-shirt. Overall the guy looked like the personified version of a thunderstorm.
Holy guacamole.
"So you're the girl, he was talking about" A male voice spoke up. "You're a cobra!!! I- how did you- uh-" I stuttered, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Ah, yes" he replied as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
I further backed away to the door, my hands reaching for the door knob.
He glanced at the doorknob and looked back at me.
"Please, I mean no harm, Alessandra"
"But, you're a snake"
"Yes, but we only hurt the ones who hurt us and you haven't hurt me so I won't hurt you"
I gulped.
"Please, trust me"
"Trust has to be earned, it cannot be just given to someone"
He raised an eyebrow, nodding in agreement, "I agree with you at that point"
"How did you get in? Didn't my mom see you when she came in"
"I simply got in through the window. Keep them closed, or creatures can get in. And your mom didn't see me cause I just arrived"
"Who are you?" I asked, a slight quiver in my voice.
"Ah, yes, we'll get to that, but please, I believe you might need to take a seat for this," he said, gesturing to the opposite end of the bed.
I took a seat on the mattress, making sure to be as far as I could, his dark eyes staring into my brown ones
I took a seat on the mattress, making sure to be as far as I could.
He chuckled.
"I believe you would need a better weapon than a hairbrush and a bottle of perfume, but if it makes you feel safe then I am fine with it." I felt blood rush to my cheeks from the embarrassment.
