A voice that I had gotten familiar with time cut through the air, making me stop in my tracks.
The voice I thought I'd never hear again.
I turned around, not trusting my ears.
My heart was beating wildly against the rib cage as I took a step back in revelation.
No this, this couldn't be true. I saw it.
I saw the Garuda drive that sword through him. The screeching of the Garuda and Isha's screams haunting the memory.
Agni was the first to break from the stupor as she stepped forward.
"A-Arav?" Her voice was barely audible.
She sprinted across the clearing to where Arav was standing, a light smile on his face. He let out a light grunt of pain as Agni knocked him over with the force of her hug. The rest of the conversation was whispered as the rest of us stared at Arav in shock.
Once the two had broken the hug, Agni walked past him. It was then that I noticed that Ranvir was a few feet away.
Agni hugged him tightly.
I looked at Arav, taking a moment to look at him. He wore a pair of jogging trousers, a hoodie with a flannel jacket over it. It wasn't until I was just a few feet away from him that I noticed that I had walked over to him.
All it took was one glance at his eyes for me to attack him with a hug.
"Y-you're alive!" My words came out in a light stutter. Relief flooded through my body as I felt him wrap his arms around me. Breaking the hug I looked at him in the eye, his breath fanning against my skin, our faces inches apart.
After much contemplation I finally plucked up the courage, standing on my toes, my lips touching his. He seemed surprised at first but soon relaxed, as his arms wound around my waist, pulling me closer.
The kiss was not much like how the fairy tales had described it to be, it didn't feel like fireworks going off.
No.
I felt relieved.
Relief that he was alive, relief that Agni didn't have to mourn for her twin. Relief that everything had gone well so far.
However the stories got one thing right. It felt as if the whole world had melted around us, like it was just us, no one there.
I had been quite confused about how I felt when he had first kissed me. But now, especially with the old memories back, I no longer felt confused or unsure. I knew that I could trust him.
Breaking the kiss I felt him touch his forehead against mine, a hand coming up to caress my cheek.
"Ti amo," I spoke in Italian. He seemed surprised for a moment.
"I remember," I revealed with a right smile, looking right into his dark eyes. He let out a laugh of joy, hugging me tightly.
"Ti amo," he whispered against my ear, gently as I felt tears glistening in my eyes.
I suddenly started to feel self conscious, looking around to see the others' eyes on us.
Breaking the hug I nervously turned to where Lana, Hermela and Ramon were standing. Lana looked as if she were about to burst into a squeal of excitement, grinning from ear to ear.
Hermela had a gentle smile on her face, her eyes twinkling with joy. Aife was too distracted with Hermela's hair to notice anything going on.
I hesitated for a second before looking at Ramon. His face was emotionless, gaze fixed on Arav. There was a light threat in his eyes as he focused solely on Arav, who simply nodded.
