The flow of water could be heard in the distance as we walked through the forest.
Bushes and plants brushed against our legs as the atmosphere gave out a refreshing feel, giving out that it had rained just hours earlier.
The morning sun peeked through the trees, rays hitting my skin, ensuring that the atmosphere wasn't too cold.
The surroundings were calm and peaceful, leaving me feeling an unusual feel of freedom.
I stopped walking for a minute to close my eyes and enjoy the surroundings after first being cramped up in that jet for more than half a day and then in a car for around 2 hours.
My eyes snapped open as I felt a hand grab my arm, turning me around, pushing my body against the trunk of a tree.
"Ramon what- mph," I struggled to complete my sentence as my brother covered my mouth with his hand, silencing me.
"Shh," he hushed me, slowly gesturing towards something behind me as he released the hand that clamped my mouth shut.
"What!" I lightly hissed, turning around to see what he was gesturing to. I saw Arav walking toward the river which was now visible.
It was then I noticed that none of the others were with him. I looked around gently to see Lena and Ranvir behind a tree to our left, Lana and Devan behind a large tree to our right.
I focused my gaze back on Arav, to see him pulling out something embedded in a tree trunk.
An Arrow.
I watched closely, as he inspected the arrow, then pulled out a piece of parchment that was wrapped to it.
"We knew you'd come here," A male voice cut through the silence.
I watched as a figure stepped out of the woods on the other side of the river.
He wore a black cloak, face covered by a dark hood.
"You are not allowed in this area, the king will not be pleased to see you here," Arav replied.
"Oh don't worry-"
I slammed my palm to my mouth trying my best to stop the yelp that struggled to come out as a bullet whizzed past my ear, embedding itself onto the tree in behind me.
"-we just want what's ours," A female voice cut off the male.
The crunching of leaves and twigs signified that she had stepped forward.
I looked back from the corner of my eye, too afraid to fully turn around and watch after what just happened.
The woman too had a hood covering her face. She had a gun in her hand, giving me the hint that it was her that tried to send a bullet through my head.
I squinted my eyes focusing on the pendant that caught my eyes.
It was a red ruby, peaking through all the black clothing of the woman.
For some reason I felt that the pendant was familiar, but I couldn't pinpoint where I'd seen it.
"Give us the girls and this won't get messy," the man spoke up.
"Please, do define messy, you and I both know who is overpowered right now..." Arav spoke up, putting one of his hands in his pocket.
"And we both know it is not me. So I generously give you two choices, either walk out of here peacefully and we will both go our own ways. Or we could punch ourselves out of this problem, which I feel is highly unnecessary. I personally prefer option one; I don't want your blood to taint these sacred grounds." He replied calmly, a light threat underlying his tone.
