"How are you feeling?" Lana asked, sitting down next to me as I lightly opened my eyes, turning my head to face her.

"Better than before I guess. I mean I no longer have my clothes sticking onto my skin with the blood and I'm certainly glad I don't look like a damsel in distress," I joked as Lana let out a chuckle.

All of a sudden she burst into a fit of giggles.

"What?" I asked, trying and failing to look serious only to end up smiling.

"Remember that time in tenth grade we had to take turns and read out Romeo and Juliet in front of the whole class? You had to read a part of Juliet's lines where she confesses her undying love for Romeo."

"Oh gosh don't remind me, spewing out cheesy love lines and being a damsel in distress is certainly not something I prefer to do. Don't get me wrong, Shakespeare writes good plays but reading love confessions in front of the whole class is just embarrassing," I grumbled, a traitorous chuckle escaping my lips.

"You looked like you were going to throw up after every line," Lana laughed.

"You weren't any better," I muttered with a pout as Lana teased me.

Lana cackled delighted to see my face which I was pretty sure looked redder than Rudolph's nose.

She finally let out a sigh, relaxing, resting her head on the back of her seat.

"For once in my life, I miss school," Lana replied.

"Yeah, at this point Mrs. Harrison's history lessons seem better than dealing with this wound," I replied as a comfortable silence settled in the atmosphere.

"What did we do to deserve this fate?" I asked as my mind went through the things we had gone through in the past few days.

Lana shot me a look of concern.

"I'm tired..." Lana turned towards me as I continued.

"I'm tired of being treated like an object. Like I'm some prize to be achieved or like I'm some endless resource of energy. People identify me as the so-called Silverblood before they even get to know me. It's like all they need to know is that I'm the Silverblood, they don't even want to know my name. They speak as if I'm an object. And you. I hate the fact that they're calling you a Ciatore when we don't even know what that means! I'm sorry. I'm so sorry Lana, I'm sorry I dragged you into this mess," I looked at my palms that lay gently on my lap.

I should have never brought Lana into this mess.

She shouldn't be the one to go through this.

She doesn't deserve to go through all of this.

She deserves to be with her parents living a normal life.

"Hey!" Lana cut me off, turning her whole body to face me.

She looked at me as if I'd just offended her.

"You dragged me into this? Bruh shut up, don't be ridiculous," She scoffed, rolling her eyes in the process.

"Listen... you didn't drag me into this okay? I chose to be here, to help you out in any way you need. That's what sisters are for, remember?" She said as her voice lowered to a gentler tone.

I slowly nodded, giving out a light smile.

My eyes focused on the background as I noticed Arav seated on the opposite side, a few feet away from us.

His jaw was clenched tightly, hands gripping the papyrus scroll on his hands.

His eyebrows were furrowed, nostrils flaring as a deep scowl set on his face.
