"I swear, If something attacks us I'm gonna make sure that you two are found as the reasons for our deaths!" I heard Lana hiss at Arav and Ramon as we walked through the bushes, each holding flashlights.
I lightly chuckled as my best friend went ballistic on the guys.
"When you said 'we're going on a trip' I didn't think you meant going to the Amazon in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!" Lana whisper-shouted.
"Relax, it's not like we're serial killers," Ramon replied casually.
"Says the guy who held me at gunpoint!" Lana shot back.
This made Ramon go quiet.
"Do not worry Atalanta, nothing will happen. This is exactly why I chose to travel at night. There is a small chance of danger since most creatures are asleep at this time," Arav replied calmly.
"But if you continue screaming your head off I'm pretty sure you'll keep the whole forest awake, and this is the world's largest rainforest we're speaking about," Ramon replied sarcastically.
I shot him a glare.
It probably read one-more-word-and-I'll-kill-you cause Ramon decided to shut up for once.
It has been several hours since we landed in Brazil.
Arav had decided it was best to stay till nightfall.
I still didn't want to fully trust him but there didn't seem to be any better option. No no, cut that. It was the only option.
Lana had been going freak-out mode ever since we entered the forest.
And this place, well I had to admit it was probably a mix of wonderful scenery and a horror movie. No wonder she was freaking out.
I glanced up at the clear sky looking at the scattered stars.
The night sky back home was amazing but this... this left me in a whole new level of speechlessness.
I felt memories rushing into my mind.
Memories of Dad, Mom and I as we stargazed on our front lawn in the new moon days.
A pang of sadness hit my heart as memories and thoughts of the past few weeks came rushing into my head.
I had to do this. If it meant saving my mom and Lana's parents, I'd exchange anything for it.
Anything at all, even my life...
I bumped onto Lana as she suddenly stopped, Ramon quickly holding my shoulders to stop me from falling.
"What happened? Why did we stop?" I asked Lana.
She looked at me uneasily as we stared at the large tree in front of us.
"We are here, turn off your torches," I heard Arav mutter.
"Are you nuts? Turn off our torches in the middle of a Forest!" Lana whisper-shouted.
"Just do it," Arav replied.
"What are we doing here?" I asked.
He was about to say something when a loud hiss cut through the silence.
"Intrudersss.... are not welcome..." A voice hissed
"We are not intruders... please do show yourself old friend," Arav's voice echoed through the area.
"Come closer and show yoursself," the voice answered.
Arav stepped forward. Lana stepped up, following him.
