*the timeline for bucky getting drafted is wrong. it made the story easier to write. :)*

"No way!" Bucky shook his head as he stared down at the prom invitation.
"What? Why not?!" Y/N groaned and flopped on his bed. She threw his pillow at him and he caught it, throwing it back at his friend.
"I can't go to a prom. I'm 106."
"Exactly!" She sighed and sat up.
"Buck, you've always told me how you and Steve missed your prom because of the draft. I planned this for weeks and pressured Tony into having it here." She laid her head on his shoulder and pouts.
"Pleaseeeee! Go to prom with meee!!"
He looked over her face, her pouty lip and puppy eyes always made him melt. Of course it also had to do with the fact he was in love with her but she didn't have to know that. He groaned and pushed her making her giggle.
"Fine! I'll go."
She jumped up and hugged him.
"Yes! Thank you! Thank you!"

-Next Day-
"Why do I have wear this?" Bucky fumbled with the bow tie. He heard Y/N's cute giggle and a smile fell on his face.
"Okay, you gotta do this. I can't fix it."
He ripped open the dressing room curtain and walked out. He sat down on the velvet couch waiting for her to come out of the dressings room. He bent down fix his pant leg when he heard the rings of the curtain pull back. Standing up his eyes landed on the most breathtaking woman he's ever seen.
"So, how do I look?" Her hands brushed the fabric down.
"Wow..." He breathed out.
"You look great."
"Great?"
"Amazing! You look...amazing. Wow."
He repeated himself. She chuckled and walked up to him, her hands fixed his bow tie and she smiled up at him.
"You look very handsome." She moved to the mirror and looked at both of them in the reflection.
"These are perfect. Don't you think?" She turned to him and he nodded.
"Perfect..."
Like her.

-That Night-
Bucky watched Y/N dance with Wanda and Thor, the three jumping and laughing like crazy people. He didn't realize but he had the biggest smile watching how happy she was. She was his light in the darkness of his life, she comforted him in a way no other person could, not even Steve. She was such a kind and caring person to everyone she met. She was perfect in his eyes.
"Hey!" Y/N sat down next to him and hit his leg.
"Hey." He smiled.
"Are you going to come dance or just sit and mope?"
He chuckles and drinks the last bit of his beer.
"I don't dance. Not anymore."
"Oh bullshit! Come on!" She grabbed his metal arm and pulled him onto the dance floor.

He looked around at all of the people and started to get anxious.
"Hey." She reached up and moved his head to face her.
"It's just you and me. Don't worry about them."
She laced her hands around his neck and his hands around her waist. A slow, soft song came on. Perfect for his first dance since the 40's. She stared up at him as they swayed to the music. His eyes drank in her face, she was absolutely stunning.
"You're beautiful Y/N." He blurted out. Her cheeks heated up and he hung his head letting out a dry laugh.
"I shouldn't have said that...I don't mean to make this awk-"
She pulled him down and smashed her lips to his. He sucked in a breath and his eyes widened. Something he had been dreaming about ever since he met her was finally happening. He matched her rhythm in the kiss, moving his hands up to her face and cupping her cheeks. Leaning back he had on a big dopey smile, she laughed at the lipstick on his lips. Reaching up she went to wipe it but he stopped her hand.
"Leave it. It's a reminder."
"Of what?"
He rubbed her cheek and pecked her lips once more.
"Of the best prom ever."
