Next lesson was one of my favourites, history. It's good to know much more about our ancestors. Only thing I didn't liked about class, was teacher. Miss Philips, which we call Phlegma. She is just some old witch, we always compare to sickness. Anyway, when lesson started I couldn't help, but to overthink about Tobias, about his being here. He looked like he came here to become new Green Death, yet he didn't actually. Tobias was rather pulled away from reality, like nothing around him mattered. Even after getting such popularity after conquering Dagur, he remained angry. Whenever people would try congratulate him, he would just look coldly or say straight to stay away from him.
"Today I'm going to get you in pairs. You will write essay about history of Vikings."
"Miss Philips, what if I can't do it at house?" Tobias asked, class remained silent afterwards. His voice was tough, such cold I could feel shivers at my back. Even so, what he meant?
"It's History. That's must-do, and it's an important work for final grades. Pick up your pairs."
I guess I know with who I will be then.
"Hey Tobias!" I tried get his attention as I ran after him, when he rushed out after the bell. He turned towards me, but seeing his look at his face, made me start feeling sick. Why he had to be such scary. "I just wanted to ask about that essay." Words from my mouth get out almost forcefully, Ididn't wanted to be here at all.
"I can't, you get it?"
"What you mean?"
He sighed, then lowered himself to my eye level. "Right now, I really don't give damn fuck, about that History lady. I can't do that essay, and that's not yours matter. Good luck." Within that, he turned rapidly and left me all alone.
There is no way he would leave me with all that essay all alone! There must be something behind that excuse of his.
My idea was simple. Check what he even meant by, I can't do it at home. If it was just terrible lie, I would confront him, yet I felt like idiot, because I forgot such importantinformations. He is bigger than me, most I can do to him is made offended face. I'm now walking one of most dangerous streets, if someone would notice short girl in here, I don't want to even imagine what would happen.
After walking something about 30 minutes, he turned and walked into one of most dangerous looking buildings. It's looked abounded, ugly, with some of its windows broke. Every building in this neighbourhood was nothing, comparative to this one. It's most hideous of them all clearly. As I was going to go I remembered what I'm doing here in first place. Tobias. Is he living here? Maybe, visiting someone? I hoped so, nobody deserved being in such place.
I shouldn't get bothered by it, but also I couldn't help my curiosity. I was standing there like idiot for longer moment, hesitation was about to get over me, until I saw woman just at doors, almost worried about my presence here. "Hello, dear. How can I help you?" She was about elderly age, she looked too sweet for such place like it, yet I knew I wasn't supposed to be here. Think of something.
"Well, I wanted to ask about my friend Tobias. He said he is living here, we were supposed to do essay together and-"
"Im sorry honey. You see, he is unable to meet with friends. I am really so sorry. But, it's nice to know he had such lovely friend like you."
"It's okay. Isn't it problem if I ask, what is he actually doing?"
"He is working right now. I'll tell him you came and-"
"NO!"
"No?"
"I mean. It was supposed to be surprise, so please don't tell him."
"Oh, alright. I won't tell him." She placed finger at hers mouth and smiled at me. Relief.
"Thank you. It would be better if I went away. I didn't wanted to disturb."
"It's alright honey. It was great to meet you."
"Same here."
Dark remained outside the window. My head was slowly getting only was getting lowerand lower. I was sitting whole day above our essay. Coffee cubes remained ended by the edge of my desks. There was just one light, which like me became more tired and more tired with time. I really wanted go to sleep, yet I couldn't let myself done so.
It felt good. I made something good. Still, it was for person which surely didn't deserved that, but maybe, just maybe, he needed that help. Maybe, hi behaviour would become better one when someone would finally just took a hand to him. Maybe that first help would direct him onto good side? Maybe, just maybe.
Coming into classroom just one thing really catches my attention. Laying figure at its bench. Tiredly, sleepy Tobias. Didn't knew why but after that sight I felt way better. It felt wonderful helping him, while seeing he really indeed didn't lied and he really just didn't had time. He could lie, I would made such hard work to find out he was having fun meanwhile. But, he didn't. He didn't lied.
Teacher, already annoyed by his behaviour was about to wake him up, but seems his instinct were animal alike. Just then, he woke up with jump, scaring miss much more than me indeed. "I guess mister Night worked hard over his essay right?" Tobias looked at her half-conscious. I was sure, he was about to say something that would lead him into hers fury. Luckily I was faster.
"Tobias? Indeed! We worked all beautiful night. He helped me a lot."
"Really. Is that right mister Night?"
He looked at me confused, but remained calm, already understanding my intentions. "Yes. Of course." He looked at me coldly. As I done something wrong!
For sure it's not the end.
